Anais — A Matter of “Choice”

He asked about her “physique” in the very professional manner common to many of us in the “management” end of the business, and I told him I would email a couple of pictures from the Ninn shoot Anais had just completed. When he got to work the next morning he saw the pictures, and this very high-ranking executive at Playboy TV decided he did in fact want the young lass to drop by the offices so that we might examine our options.

I can’t claim surprise at this decision, but clearly it was the spontaneous “Lucky Factor” comment that stayed with me, confidence in my abilities as a mentor in the adult business being one side or the other of the dual-edged sword that guides me.

I should probably fall back a bit and offer some explanation. You see Anais and I visited the Playboy offices last year, at a time when she had just turned 18 a few weeks earlier. At that point she was going through some personal difficulties and assessing options, thinking she would rather turn to “straight” modeling, also a direction we were encouraging by the way. Eventually I persuaded her to try that end of the business for a year, finish up her high school work, get a regular job out in the world, and try to take care of her daughter by more conventional means. I asked her to wait a year before we talked about this option again. Anais called me almost a year to the day later. She had completed 65 of the 77 credits she needs to graduate. She had been hit on by every male “manager” at each of the three retail outlets in which she’d secured employment (and one of the female managers). She had been told by everyone from managers to agencies that at 5’7″ tall and 18 years of age, she was too short and too old to pursue a career in modeling, and she’d filed for divorce from a physically and mentally abusive husband.

Now today I’ve got a company owner who’d gladly offer lavish sums of money for a young woman (of this appearance naturally) to consent to have sex for his company on film, but blanches at the mere suggestion that his own daughter might choose this as a career path. Moreover, I’ve got a television network executive that believes I wave some magic wand over impressionable young minds to make them think that taking these lavish sums has absolutely no consequence. Perfect. I feel really good about my cog in the wheel.

Even More Risque:  A Stormy Brewing on the Horizon

Anais for RisqueAnais was with us for several weeks last summer, and at one point I had “a concerned woman” come up to me and opine that I was “enabling” Anais just by showing her around the various aspects of the adult business. I would have potentially understood the psychology of the critique had not the speaker actually been an actress in the XXX business already. It never stops. Oh, and I forgot to mention that when she called me this requested year later, Anais had been living in her car for three weeks with her two-year-old daughter, changing diapers in the bathrooms of fast food restaurants.

Anyone familiar with the history of Risqué Management, and there’s absolutely no reason that anyone should be, would recognize that I don’t tend to sign women until they’re at least in their mid 20’s. For what it’s worth, I don’t think they’re really capable (for the most part here) of understanding the depth of the decision they’re making, and I don’t think they really even understand their own sexuality by this point. Without exceptions, there can be no rules, however. Vicca and Nikita were 20, but they had also traveled 6,000 miles around the globe to try to better their lives here, and they had been working in XXX in Europe for over a year before they came to me. Consequently, they were such an exception.
