The court hearings have begun, and if you have no experience with the criminal justice system, we should explain that there are a lot of hearings in important (or at least high-profile) cases. We can get into more specifics as things start to resolve — sometime — but the basic facts remain as you read them in the last post. There are five defendants so far, “at least” one of which happens to be a minor the prosecutor wishes to charge as an adult. So we have hurdle one, even before we get to the part where the district attorney’s office has to wrap its collective head around not only the prosecution of the case, but also around a female victim who has chosen to have sex for a living. …
