Happy Birthday DeeFor Love Nor Honey

by Reason of Sanity

[We do not often do this, but a quite excellent blog post appeared on one of our sister sites a couple of weeks ago, and since they’re pretty new we thought we’d run it again here. The Risque site has be around for 20+ years, so we get a lot more traffic than those cute little things that feel proud after their first anniversary. Mostly, however, we consider this an important topic, so we wanted to do what we could to draw attention to it. Speaking of anniversaries, though, we have thrown in a few completely unrelated photos of Dee celebrating a birthday because that date also happened this week, and, well, picture of Dee might be a pleasant diversion from words that actually encourage you to think. Egads!]

You would think that the adult movie industry would be one of the most accepting and open-minded groups of people you could find anywhere. In many ways, actually, that would be true. Not even considering the on-camera folks — they of the “look at my body parts” mentality that causes either envy or confusion in most of us — the people that work in XXX tend to have a rather Libertarian core to them: I’ll take care of me. You take care of you. Everything will be grand.

Driving into Las Vegas on Martin Luther King Day a couple of weeks ago, however, brought a long-standing debate back up into the conversation. Approaching still the best industry/fan interaction convention, the half-day drive to the Hard Rock tends to be a time when the “old folks” talk to the “younger folks” about what to expect. We have more time on risque scheduled to talk about the convention in general, but the overriding topic this year ended up being once again, “Why do we even still have an Interracial category for things?”

Even More Risque:  Super Bowl 50

Take, for example, the video today, which happens to feature Devon Lee, Nikita Von James, Brittany O’Connell, and Rayveness, each with a different hair color. Now even though we had nothing whatsoever to do with casting this No Man’s Land scene, we cannot imagine anyone asking any of the performers, “Hey, Brittany is a redhead and Rayveness has black hair now, so will that be a problem at all?”
