Well this doesn’t happen very often. Michael’s once again completely lost his mind and so we’re all going to be in Los Angeles for a week and a half … MORE. We’re sorry; and we promise to come back to our regular posting ways in June, but it doesn’t look good for the rest of this month. Until then we have some more video posts which we hope will distract you from our absence. Sorry, Carol. We’ll get on those still images in a couple of weeks. A funny thing happened on the way to changing careers … the old career skills didn’t seem to go away and hide, and now all of the sudden we find ourselves very much back in the mix, and oddly feeling pretty much OK about it. Now today is just the day when we show off Charlie Laine, Jassie, and Tanya James, and then basically just tease with one of those thinly veiled “more to come” comments, but sometimes that’s just how life is. We were going to post D.Minion’s story from Day Two on the set of The Catalyst and then we noticed that there are more than 300 pictures and like 5,000+ words. Then we decided that this was a really bad idea. It would be much better, we reasoned, to do this post in honor of the DVD being released – and not just because that means we can stall until late June either. No way. We didn’t want to get out of here on this sunny Saturday afternoon and go to the beach or anything. Nope. That had nothing to do with us decided to post D.Minion’s much more reasonable report on the 2006 XRCO Awards. It’s just that life is full of oddities sometimes (and not even all of them work here). 9/30/05	We encourage reading the classics around here. And then we encourage reading almost anything else. Reading is good, and your head doesn’t hurt nearly as much the next morning if you spend the evening reading rather than developing a personal relationship with, say, Jack Daniels. OK. Maybe if you spend the evening reading the Republican National Platform it might, but nobody really reads that anyway, do they? In honor of this encouragement, today we’re taking a twist on the classics with “Of Vice, Not Men,” and while certainly not destined to be required fodder at some future university it has the distinct benefit of including Juli Ashton, Alexandra Silk, and Devinn Lane among its subject matter. 9/26/05	A funny thing happened on the way to the web post today. One of the site management tools that we use pointed out that this Night Calls, August, 2005 entry represents a total of 5,000 pages that we’ve laid out for the world to see. That seems significant … not like the stars in a mountain sky at night or anything, but still significant. But although we’ve been good at honesty over the years, we’ve probably never been good at understanding significance. It’s a shortcoming we’ve learned to live with, however. So we’re going to leave it up to someone else to add that particular aspect. For our part, we plan on watching the Broncos on Monday Night Football, all the while hoping that Kansas City sent all of their players to assist in the hurricane relief efforts instead of bringing them to Denver. 9/24/05	Now we can tell you about D.Minion’s visit to the set of Lost Angels – Wanda Curtis, and of course provide all of the usual fascinating insights delivered in laconic observation. OK. Maybe “laconic” might be more that we could hope for … so let’s go with “pithy” … and you guys can get on the Message Board and blame “bradcom” for the renewed fascination with words around here. One of the editors bought a bargain bin Word of the Day calendar and has felt it necessary to try to use the words for the 267 days that have already passed this year — in one week. (Bradcom owes the office a beer, by the way.) To D.Minion’s credit we should note, however, that she did provide 135 wonderful photograps of beautifully unclad women … oh, and some cows, an aging motorbike, and a couple of landscapes of a water truck. 9/21/05	Oops. We got called into the Principal’s office today, or at least its porn equivalent. It seems we haven’t been practicing the proper reverence for the vaunted Adult Video News Awards. You know, we’d be really sorry, but proper reverence has never been one of our better subjects, and we’ve pretty much come to grips with this failure over the years. While we’re contemplating our wrong-doing, and driving all the way to Los Angeles to hear about it, by the way, we thought we’d let you kill a little time with the Anais version of (the) Pool Party. We might be using that term fairly loosely here, come to think of it. … Drat. … There we go again being all impertinent and the like. 9/13/05	Now you’d think that being a “lab rat” wouldn’t be the most fun job in the world. However, provided no one really cuts open your head to stick pointy electrical things into your brain, there are some positive things to be said for the potential. If, for example, you have Anais and Jana Cova as your visual “aides” (as it were) for the day, well maybe it would be OK to just hang for the time being. We can always escape later. We certainly seem to be living in a “phase” mode these days, don’t we? In my decade (plus) of Porn Star Management I always said that if you just do what you say you’re going to do, that generally being showing up on time, looking good, with the wardrobe you need, and knowing your lines, you’d immediately be in the top 2% of the working talent. But it’s still true, although “lines” aren’t as commonly used as they once were, what with corporations buying up all of the companies and the time taken to do “dialogue” being hard to justify on a silly balance sheet that somebody who’s never even seen an adult movie has responsibility for. 6/30/05	You know what? We haven’t been talking about Dee enough. For awhile we just thought these uncomfortable feelings were just from the long hours at Ninn Worx, or trying to get a deep understanding of really sexy subjects like “video compression techniques” or something. We even gave the “must have had some bad seafood” theory a brief visit, but then we realized that unless it comes wrapped in paper, we haven’t eaten it lately. Then we saw Dee at LA Erotica and we realized the obvious truth of the matter: We haven’t been talking about Dee enough. You know, you can spend time with your head buried in codec geekdom, on machines that cost many thousands of dollars, and you still miss the simple stuff. 6/27/05	Conventions and Events pretty much describe the modern working world in America. No matter what you do for a living, there’s almost certainly a convention somewhere (every year) that brings all of you like-minded people together … probably to talk amongst yourselves about how hideous it is to try to do what you do for a living. … well … We have those also. And we also have those Events that really, really want to be in this “essential” catagory, so that they might make a bunch of money off of all of us too. Consider LA Erotica. Now the people that attend this paticular convention are much more interesting than the folks that pay money to display their wares, as it were, but it’s still a rather fun place to hang out for a bit. This year it cost $30 per person, per day, and that probably makes some accountant happy somewhere. We just went for the pretty girls. Sometimes simple is best. 2/29/04	It seems like that on a rare day such as “Leap Year’s Day” we should celebrate something even more rare. 2/26/04	It’s officially less than a week away from the return of Night Calls from its long hiatus. Add in the fact that a scheduling conflict kept D.Minion from the first January show, and then you can sort of explain why Night Calls, January 21, 2004 runs about … oh … TWICE AS LONG as one of D.Minion’s usual stories. 2/23/04	Well we’ve got quite the treat for you today as Maverick has continued to work his Photoshop fingers to the bone. So we’ve got Wendy Divine and Eric Masterson having torrid sex on a table, where Jessica Drake happens to be lunching, apparently oblivious, although it sounds like she snuck a little play in there secretly. Fair enough. Why then, we must ask D.Minion, was the only photo in the set, taken at the highest resolution and highest frame size (an unusual setting for us), the photo below? 2/10/04	The lead-in to the local Los Angeles evening news the other night teased with, “Today the Mars Rover took its first microscopic pictures of a nearby rock.” Most of the really good copy writers around here wanted to immediately quit and get a job with “The Southland’s #1 News” if that was the best they could come up with. That really has nothing to do with another episode of D.Minion’s coverage of Dee and the Fat Men on KSEX radio, but we promised to give these wonderful people public credit so they wouldn’t run off and join the Legitimate Press. Bleh. And even though we’re in the middle of the next Innocence shoot for Ninn Worx, Dee finished an Ultimate Pictures movie and continues her twice-weekly Nooner Naughtiness, Kristal Summers continues to line up several more boys to bonk for bucks, Anais shot (yet again) for Suze Randall, and both Georgia Adair and Angel Cassidy are busy putting together budgets and shooting schedules (and those pesky contracts) for each of their respective personal lines (also for Ninn Worx) … even though all of that was taking place, we still managed to buy pizza for everyone for lunch.
