I kept flashing back to those “twin” sitcoms of the 1960’s, with characters like Patty and Cathy Lane on The Patty Duke Show, Samantha and Serena on Bewitched, and Jeannie and her sister (also named Jeannie) on I Dream Of Jeannie. So this is how they did it! But I don’t think they had computer-controlled cameras to help with the effects. [Jeannie’s sister was named Jeannie? I’m pretty sure I would have lost a bet on that little bit of trivia.]
During a break, Justine wandered out onto the patio, with the wardrobe mistress holding her dress for her. Walking in her costume was extremely difficult. (I wonder how Scarlet O’Hara did it?) Sitting was nearly impossible, but Justine found she could perch on an apple box fairly easily. Her ruff around her neck was scratchy and her wig made her head itch, but she wasn’t complaining! (Note the photo of makeup artist extraordinaire Marianne scratching Justine’s head. Justine said that was her “favorite part of the day!”) She was having a blast on this “mellow” set.
Justine said that the Catherine dress had been “fun,” although it cost $6500 and she was terrified she’d spill something on it. The costume kind of reminded her of the hoop dresses she wore when she was a kid in the 1980’s. (To tell the truth, I don’t remember hoop dresses in the ‘80’s, but I’ve never been much of a fashion plate.) [D.Minion’s never been much of a fashion “saucer” – which is why she fits in fine with the rest of us office folks.]
Justine confided that she’d worn dresses exclusively until she was nine years old. Then a friend told her she was crazy for not wearing pants. The perils of peer pressure …. Under her uncomfortable dress, Justine was wearing comfy bedroom slippers and little black socks. Like me, Justine has a sock fetish. She bought several pairs in Budapest that go up over her knees like Pippi Longstocking! (Oooh!) [I almost edited that little part out. I should have done that, right? Sorry.]
Justine had managed a short catnap during a break in the morning’s shooting, but it wasn’t very restful because she’d been dreaming about eating cat food. (During a catnap she should have been dreaming about eating pussy!) Before we went inside, Justine asked one of the crew guys for a “monkey fuck.” I was intrigued until I found out that meant a cigarette-to-cigarette light. (See all the fun and informative things you learn on porn sets?) [I’m not sure, but I think mostly it’s Justine that provides much of the information in this bizarre category.]
The next set up was in the magnificent master bedroom. The camera and tracks had been moved upstairs, and the crew was busy measuring key camera positions and typing the information into the computer. Everything was extremely technical, and Director Ninn was in his element – making sure the angles, the lights, the costumes, the makeup, and a plethora of minutia were perfect! [Hmm. “A plethora of minutia.” I think that pretty much describes my life these days. … I need to spend more time with Justine.]
I just watched the action and held Justine’s glasses. Ooooh! One of the monitors was on the fritz, so the crew hooked a camera up to the television in the huge master bathroom – and Michael directed from there. In this scene, Audrey was lying in bed while Justine walked by the window – haunting 
her. The scene was shot over and over again until it was perfect. [And Michael edited this two seconds of screen time over and over until it was perfect a few times, and a few different ways. I’m pretty sure we unplugged the hard drives while he was in the bathroom. I think that’s how we got him to stop editing – and we’re planning a similar attack for Sacred by the way.]
By now it was getting late and getting dark. Michael Ninn had all the camera track shots he needed so he could let the mainstream crew go. He made the decision to finish Catherine the next morning so the light would match. But since the day wasn’t over, perhaps Audrey and Justine could film a girl/girl scene for his Fem series! They’d been flirting with each other all day, so they were both thrilled with the idea! (However, since this is a Catherine story, you’ll have to read about the Fem scene in the Fem section!) [And, as it turns out, you’ll have to get the Two-Disc version of Catherine to see this “bonus” scene because that’s where Michael put it, rather than in a Fem. It’s complicated hanging around Michael, it really is.]
