1/24/07	Here’s a shirt you can’t wear just everywhere: “ASS. The New Vagina.” … This and other observations come through today in the first “Dear Readers Speak” in a couple of years it seems like. Sometimes the uninitiated are so darned cute. And sometimes they’re a bit painful in their honesty. It’s interesting how “regular” people look at an event like the AVN Awards Show, and it’s equally interesting (although certainly quite a bit more odd) how many pictures our own “three amigos” seemed to take of each other. Fortunately they at least had the courtesy to include various fetching women in the photographs too. In the midst of “plowing through” we seem to have wandered down a diversion. We love that. 1/20/07	We’re taking baby steps here, not so much because of the Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss movie but because that seemed like a reasonable way to start our assault on the current queue. Consequently we decided to open with a nice little D.Minion story about getting ready for the AVN Awards show this year … with Heather Vuur, Audrey Hollander, Faith Leon, Monica Mayhem, Ruby Flame, Lorraine Sisco, and of course Dee and Kristal. There were some boys there too, but who really notices them with this cast of females? We did read a wonderfully pithy quote in a Lawrence Block book that would fit right in here. Speaking of a particularly attractive female character Mr. Block described her as sending off “a subliminal message that said, Sleep with me and you will die. But it will be worth it.” If you haven’t read the Bernie Rhodenbarr “Burglar” series by Lawrence Block, by the way, you’re missing out on some very funny and entertaining times. While you’re checking Amazon, though, you might look at these pictures and Mav’s video. That’s a fine way to spend some time too. 1/15/07	Hey, we lived through it! (Of course “lived” would be a relative term here.) You know what’s a really bad idea? Reading a Steven King (technically Richard Bachman, though) book about a grueling and ultimately fatal competition whose only characteristic happens to be that it involves lots and lots of walking, precisely while you’re attending a convention that also necessarily involves lots and lots of walking. This is a bad idea. While we’re valiantly trying to make some semblance of order of the 2,000+ pictures, a couple hours of video, multiple audio files, and more autographs then we’ve even begun to count, we thought we’d share a little joy that can come from a virus. Hey, weirdness begets weirdness, and if the Risqué site doesn’t prove that theory for you, then you haven’t really been paying attention. On the upside, we’ve recently had many opportunities to use an almost forgotten phrase, “My dogs are barkin’ now.” And if you know what that means, while you may not be a Redneck yourself, you certainly know at least one. 1/8/07	You knew, of course, that we would not be allowed to leave the LA area and head for Las Vegas before we had accomplished DM’s task of adding the Essentially Juli AND Shayla Double-DVD to the catalogue, right? Well, we did that, and then we set up some things to keep you occupied for the next week as we converge (from many points of the world, truth be told) on the annual Adult Entertainment Expo for the next week. Consider it a bonus for today, and then consider coming with us next year. You really haven’t lived until you’ve seen some drunk and crying XXX performer, devastated because she didn’t win the “Best Anal Sex Scene” Award. What a surreal world in which we exist. 1/6/07	Guess what follows “Day One” of something, and even sometimes only a few days later. Correct. … “Day Two” …. 1/3/07	We learned a fun fact about the entertainment industry today. The cost of shooting ONE episode of the formerly famous TV show, Maimi Vice, actually cost more money than the budget for the entire YEAR of Miami’s actual Vice Squad. Hmm. … Well, nobody said that the entertainment industry makes sense, and so we quickly gloss over our bit of insight into that and look at some pictures of beautiful Dee, gracing the shores of Jamaica. 1/1/07	It occurred to us that peering into a Facade might be a dandy way to start the New Year, considering the business we’re in and all. We didn’t really give that enough thought considering all the football on TV today though, as even just Day One on the Set with D.Minion turned out to be one of those “thousands of words and 225 pictures” sort of DM days. Ah, well we technically made it as a New Year’s Day post anyway, assuming you happen to live in the Pacific Time Zone at least. Some times you just need to channel some old country songs as you go through life. 12/12/06	You know how we always say that truth is stranger than fiction? Consider this, and we promise that it’s true. … We were riding in a new SUV that one of the Risqué ladies happened to have picked up recently, and we couldn’t help but noticing a vast collection of “sticky notes” plastered on the dash. “I just love this new car,” the fair lass bubbled, “that little plastic screen is the perfect place to put directions for places I’m going.” … Honestly we waited as long as we could before pointing out that she was in fact using “sticky notes with directions” to cover up the vehicle GPS system. … Sometimes in life it’s best just to sit back and enjoy it. And that’s what we figured to do today as we immerse ourselves in Chris Hall’s pictures on the set of Aperture. Real photographers are fun to visit sometimes, but we must be honest and point out that Chris forgot to get any pictures of domestic animals or guys on ladders. 6/29/06	We have a curiously brief report on Erotica LA today, possibly having something to do with D.Minion’s sudden (and almost unexplained) incapacity. Gee. We just can’t figure out what happened. But there are 60 pictures here, and some video clips of items seen at the show that almost uniformly have no practical application. Come to think of it, that pretty much defines our goal in life. 6/25/06	LA Erotica was actually a bit wackier this year than it has been historically, and we’re blaming D.Minion. That seems fair since she’s been hanging out with Lorraine Sisco altogether too much and has plastered us with 310 pictures, a secret mpeg, and 3000+ words covering the bizarre second day of Lorraine’s The Catalyst. These two women should quit hanging out so much together, and so we’ve decided just to tie DM to a chair in the office, or maybe to one at her house so she could commune with her cat. 6/19/06	Well don’t everyone fall off of their chairs or anything, but we’re back again. The new system seems to be working remarkably well (although we’ll almost certainly regret saying that). We’re going with just a typical little D.Minion story today, this being her “pre-production observations” of Sacred Sin. We looked at the entire story in Word and learned, much to our dismay, that the entire discourse covers some 10,027 words. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, our immediate suggestion was to just give y’all a dozen pictures and let you keep the change. D.Minion’s look was not one of adoration at this suggestion, however. So we’re breaking it up, and we promise to get through it all – if for no other reason than everyone here is pretty much afraid of D.Minion. Women in their 40’s get a little scary you know … . 6/18/06	This isn’t so much a “let’s see if this works” kind of thing as it is a “OK. Fine. We’ve been promising you we’d do this since the Dark Ages (translation: Before Sacred Sin), so now we’re finally doing it.” sort of thing. That said, we still ended up with a rather intimate portrayal of a Fine English Lass named Faye, courtesy of our friend Maverick. Granted, Mav sometimes forgets to focus, and he never once looked into the background of the shot, but considering what Faye was doing and what she was (or was not) wearing, we can kind of understand the scattered approach. For an evolved amateur, Maverick seems to be catching on just fine. He even included a couple of variations on a video theme that we’re just going to stop talking about now, and for the record, we’re just going to assume he’s not the “P” in “POV” … . You can start today to see if things Clique for you as they have for many people (judging from sales of the title), and we’ll move along to the next “hand-crafted” category.
