You might think there wouldn’t be much to argue about in an industry where people basically get paid to do what everyone does at home — or in the car, or on the beach, or even in an elevator if you’re adventurous. Let’s face it, you don’t exactly need an advanced degree in order to have sex on camera, although it certainly doesn’t hurt to have a good bit of stamina and be more than a little bit limber, no matter what type of job you have in the industry.

The Carnival of Shayla Knowledge

The Tunnel of Love (sort of)

Technically they put me on task to tell a quick story about a movie called Carnival of Knowledge, all in an effort to provide members with an enhanced Shayla Knowledge — an admirable goal all the way around. I’ve never been to a carnival that had a Tunnel of Love as a ride, just so you know, but the title felt like it fit our business better than “Tilt-A-Whirl” so I went with it. Sometimes if you have no way to be exactly sure what you should be doing, you simply need to keep yourself focused and be ready to react. My grandfather always told me, “God gave you two ears and one mouth. Listen twice as much as you talk.”

Over the years that philosophy has done well for me, as far as the adult industry goes, perhaps never better than on this particular set.

Where were we? Ah, yes. Enter Wicked’s newest contract player, Stormy.

Despite sometimes apparent appearances to the contrary, I actually have very little influence over the operation of Wicked Pictures. I happen to be friends with the owner, but that comes from a long time ago when porno times were simpler. Competition has gotten fierce, and “media” has expanded way beyond where it was in 1992 when we met, so most of our dealings these days are, “How’s the wife? and “How about those stupid Broncos?” sort of conversations. I was as surprised as anyone when I read the press release that Wicked had signed Stormy as their newest contract player.

[With the next AVN Adult Entertainment Expo less than a month away now, we decided to run an article out here that appeared in the risqué members’ section over a dozen years ago. As it turns out, Stormy Daniels did in fact make a substantial name for herself in the industry, and as you prepare to meet the new stars in Vegas, it might be fun — or even useful, perhaps — to read about a success story back when she first got started.]

I hate to start out one of our typically wildly entertaining articles with “educational background,” but I don’t see any way around it here. You’ve come to expect relevance, insight, pithy observation, and overseeing benevolence as we guide you through the swarthy and occasionally sacrosanct world of Adult Entertainment. Or, at least, you’ve learned to just click on the camera at the top of the page and skip all this wordy excess.
