There just seems to be something nice about a holiday not yet overtaken by the greeting card — or worse now, eCard — industry. You just feel good getting out and planting a tree, or picking up trash, or whatever, giving a gift “outside” your circle and immediate family. Giving something to hundreds or thousands of people that you will never, ever meet simply seems good, and we all need something to feel good about these days.
