3/15/16	Every time we go to one of the big industry conventions we begin anew missing the elegance that Michael Ninn brought to the genre. Sure there continue to be some very fine directors that do some very fine work — even a bit of it quite beautiful — but Michael just had a way with talent, and quite simply with light that sets him apart from mere mortals. Since he celebrates his birthday on this date every year, we miss him and thank him all at the same time. We have all made it one more year appreciating keen aesthetics, if nothing else. It changes the conversations at work in the morning, almost certainly increases the beer consumption in the winning city the night before, but that’s about it. 12/31/15	As the year comes to a close, almost every media or news organization does some sort of “year in review” kind of program, which they follow with a “this year will be different in this way…” sort of thing. In our little part of California they did a survey where 55% of the people’s highest hope would be a new “forever home” for all the rescue animals out there. This seems nice until you read that coming in at #2 were 22% of the folks who most desired shelter for homeless people. … We’re not filled with optimism here, so we’re sticking with a Kristal Summers Naked Camshow. 9/7/15	On a day when 90% of the country enjoys a holiday, those at either end of the professional spectrum tend to be at work. Executives sneak into the office for a few hours, prepared to at least enjoy the peace and quiet, while those with the least seniority do whatever they usually do for a living and pine for a time when they too get to demand family time when most regular people get it. This latter group should be careful what they wish for, at the very least setting their sights somewhere below the Executive Level, but then people rarely exhibit such foresight, so they will eventually find out for themselves. For our “executive part” we found it necessary to correct some underling failures of late, but we don’t mind too much. First of all, it meant dealing with Dee again, and that always makes for a pleasant day, and, most importantly, when we come into work tomorrow, we will still be the boss at the meeting.
