Underneath the AEE 2014

AEE 2014 imageThis year, we got our badges in record time with no problems whatsoever. As I had an “All Access” badge, I was able to walk the Muse floor while it was still in the construction stage. [This should explain the perhaps atypical coverage of an event that you see represented in these photographs. Understanding D.Minion’s penchant for taking shots of men on ladders, Gibby managed to trump that goal by finding a woman on a ladder during the setup. Opinion here remains divided upon whether or not that constituted taunting or sucking up. We have a complicated work environment. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell. Think about it: If you don’t get sexually harassed at least once a week, it probably means someone has not been doing their job.]

During that walk I was able to snap some pictures of the booths going up, and the locations of the various production companies at the Expo. I was somewhat surprised at how small the venue seemed and how few big companies were in the Muse. [Perhaps he even mused about it. We are not sure.] Wicked Pictures which had previously been absent from the Muse did have a significant presence this year. However, Elegant Angel and Girlfriends Films were shifted from the Muse to the Joint and would not be present until “Fan Fest” opened on Thursday. [Since we’re on the topic of divergent opinions, we have no consensus on whether the “Fest” part stands for “Festival” or Festering.]

Digital Playground and the Brazzers affiliates (Twistys, Mofos, Babes, Reality Kings… ) who previously were located in the halls that connected the Muse and Joint venues, were now centrally located in the Muse Hall. I think those changes reflected somewhat the changes in the industry in 2013. [And if we knew what Gibby considers those changes to be, this would be an excellent spot for that bit of information, right?]

Upon our return from the Hard Rock, we were joined by [Super-Secret] for a meal at TGI Friday’s. That meal would be eventful because of a dessert dish dubbed, the “Brownie Obsession.” [Right the Super-Secret guest was of no significance at all. She’ll be thrilled. Wait until she sees Gibby next year. … ] I had sampled that concoction the previous day and it nearly put me in a diabetic coma. Fair warning was given but not heeded as D.Minion and [Super-Secret] shared the lethal confection. [Super-Secret] will tell you that it wasn’t the brownie that put her down, but she wasn’t the same for several days after that fateful encounter. On the other hand, weaned on donuts with sprinkles, D.Minion soldiered on without a hitch in her giddy-up. [Give DM sprinkle donuts and you can’t catch her giddy-up to even try and put a hitch on it.]

Post meal activities included more Expo planning and getting Shayla settled over at the Rio. Most of us turned in fairly early as the next day would begin with an early morning shoot and Day One of AEE. Unfortunately, because of a Badger loss to Indiana earlier that night, I was forced to extend my evening with a bout of beer and betting before I eventually retired for the night. [This tells you a great deal about what you need to know in order to understand Uncle Gibby: “I just lost a bet. I need to drink beer and bet some more.” … We can’t claim to understand the level of sanity required in order for this to become an actual thought process, but we can assure you we have all witnessed the behavior enough that we know it to be true.]
