I also remember sitting on a couch talking to Gary Gray for quite a while. [Neither of those people on the right would be Gary, by the way.] For you Playboy TV fans, he was better known as “Helmetcam” back then on their show Strip Search. Lucky can probably explain it better than I can, but basically his role was an attempt to give viewers a POV look at strippers dancing by attaching a camera to the top of a helmet. He had a bunch of great stories, including the first time they tried to use a jury-rigged camera duct taped to a heavy white crash helmet. He looked like one of those mentally challenged kids that have to constantly wear something for protection because they fall down a lot. I also think it was shortly after Playboy cancelled his half hour show that aired after Night Calls, and we lamented its passing and Playboy’s stupidity. Actually, that’s a subject that comes up a lot at Risqué functions, probably because there are so many examples of it. Hard to believe Playboy has lasted over 50 years. [Well, a lot of things that have lasted for decades seem to be crashing and burning these days. Perhaps you’ve noticed?]
There’s one other thing that I don’t have a specific recollection of, but I’m almost certain it happened because it always does when you’re fortunate enough to be involved with events like this, especially in the early days. Maybe it was when Kristal brought us drinks or when Dee flirted with us or maybe it was just watching Wendy, Devinn, or jessica walk by and smile. But at some point, Lon and I looked at each other with the exact same smile on our faces and the exact same thought in our heads: “How did we ever get lucky enough to wind up here?” [Steve and Lon still occasionally have the same thought in their respective heads, a situation we’re quick to point out that should either concern or offend both of them. … Speaking of muddled brains (generally, of course, not specific to these two fine young men) if you’ve noticed the new layout on New Stuff, with the years being much less assaulting on the left, you can see that we continue our efforts toward clean organization around here. That said, somehow a few pictures of Devinn Lane and Wendy Divine ended up in this collection of Kristal Summers and Dee. Now we’ve already “used” that Devinn/Wendy group, but it seemed like a really silly idea just to dump these other because we forgot them before, so we’re showing them to you now. “Life’s a dance you learn as you go.” Right?]
