5/28/05	It’s Memorial Day Weekend, as most of the US folks know, and we’re celebrating. True, most Americans likely can’t even remember what we’re supposed to be memorializing (as anyone that’s ever seen “Jaywalking” on The Tonight Show can attest), but a very few people might recall that some people have spent millions of dollars, and some rather more important people have died, giving us the chance to carve our little free niche in the world. So grill some beef. Eat some hotdogs. Play frisbee with your dog. … And try not to be too upset with the fact that banks are closed on Monday. At least most of you don’t have to go to work, after all. Oh, and if you’ve got the time, you might check out D.Minion’s Risqué Retrospective. Nobody died, and not even any animals were harmed, in this little synopsis of time. But, gee, ain’t it funny how time slips away? 5/27/05	The Porn Industry hasn’t quite figured out the deceptively important concept of picking a title with care. We tend to name things with what they ARE, rather than what they’re ABOUT. Of course many would say that’s simply because the adult “movies” are exactly what they are about, but those people are still wearing trenchcoats and looking for cheap thrills from a hole in the wall if you ask me. Fortunately, no one asks me much, and so I can spend my time enjoying Dee Directing once again. Also, I don’t blame her for the title. You can now enjoy her too. 5/25/05	Over the years we’ve come to understand that it’s always preferable to wake up with a beautiful woman. Sometimes it’s even nice to wake up with three beautiful women, and if those women happen to be Juli Ashton, Julia Ann, and Becca … well, you’re obviously still asleep because you’re dreaming. Still we’re big on vicarious existence around here so you might as well sit back and enjoy something we (very cleverly, we might add) call Sybian Rivalry … OK. Maybe we’re still sleeping too. 5/20/05	So you meet a new person, and you’re still in the getting to know each other stage, right? Well somebody new on the Risqué periphery was describing a friend of hers. “She’s a real Right-Winger,” says the strange new person (who gets stranger by the minute sometimes), “but she’s a closet liberal, because she has gay friends, and even a Jewish one.” Good Grief: One step forward. Two steps back. Eeek! … Aside from the patently offensive implications here, we also saw a dandy opportunity to introduce Night Calls from March of 2005, since we love irony in all of its many forms. You see, this particular Night Calls episode, besides featuring the usual Juli Ashton and Tiffany Granath raucousness, had a group of beautiful female boxers as their guests, and if I ever knew two women that needed a punch in the mouth … well, you just heard from them on the periphery. 5/16/05	“Sometimes it’s sweetness and light here in Porn Valley, but sometimes things don’t work out exactly as planned. 5/13/05	I got fired from my job last week, and I was pretty upset about it. 6/30/05	You know what? We haven’t been talking about Dee enough. For awhile we just thought these uncomfortable feelings were just from the long hours at Ninn Worx, or trying to get a deep understanding of really sexy subjects like “video compression techniques” or something. We even gave the “must have had some bad seafood” theory a brief visit, but then we realized that unless it comes wrapped in paper, we haven’t eaten it lately. Then we saw Dee at LA Erotica and we realized the obvious truth of the matter: We haven’t been talking about Dee enough. You know, you can spend time with your head buried in codec geekdom, on machines that cost many thousands of dollars, and you still miss the simple stuff. 6/27/05	Conventions and Events pretty much describe the modern working world in America. No matter what you do for a living, there’s almost certainly a convention somewhere (every year) that brings all of you like-minded people together … probably to talk amongst yourselves about how hideous it is to try to do what you do for a living. … well … We have those also. And we also have those Events that really, really want to be in this “essential” catagory, so that they might make a bunch of money off of all of us too. Consider LA Erotica. Now the people that attend this paticular convention are much more interesting than the folks that pay money to display their wares, as it were, but it’s still a rather fun place to hang out for a bit. This year it cost $30 per person, per day, and that probably makes some accountant happy somewhere. We just went for the pretty girls. Sometimes simple is best. Not only does it bring us up to date on Juli’s wonderful television program, but it also serves on the eve of a special day for a very special friend. Some of you may know that a couple of Memorial Days back Playboy TV once played nothing but Juli Ashton and Essentially Juli for 24 hours straight. 2/26/04	It’s officially less than a week away from the return of Night Calls from its long hiatus. Add in the fact that a scheduling conflict kept D.Minion from the first January show, and then you can sort of explain why Night Calls, January 21, 2004 runs about … oh … TWICE AS LONG as one of D.Minion’s usual stories. Still, it’s Juli and the gang, and we’ll likely forgive them their abscence as we usually do. So we’ve got Wendy Divine and Eric Masterson having torrid sex on a table, where Jessica Drake happens to be lunching, apparently oblivious, although it sounds like she snuck a little play in there secretly. Fair enough. Why then, we must ask D.Minion, was the only photo in the set, taken at the highest resolution and highest frame size (an unusual setting for us), the photo below? 2/10/04	The lead-in to the local Los Angeles evening news the other night teased with, “Today the Mars Rover took its first microscopic pictures of a nearby rock.” Most of the really good copy writers around here wanted to immediately quit and get a job with “The Southland’s #1 News” if that was the best they could come up with. That really has nothing to do with another episode of D.Minion’s coverage of Dee and the Fat Men on KSEX radio, but we promised to give these wonderful people public credit so they wouldn’t run off and join the Legitimate Press. Bleh. And even though we’re in the middle of the next Innocence shoot for Ninn Worx, Dee finished an Ultimate Pictures movie and continues her twice-weekly Nooner Naughtiness, Kristal Summers continues to line up several more boys to bonk for bucks, Anais shot (yet again) for Suze Randall, and both Georgia Adair and Angel Cassidy are busy putting together budgets and shooting schedules (and those pesky contracts) for each of their respective personal lines (also for Ninn Worx) … even though all of that was taking place, we still managed to buy pizza for everyone for lunch. 11/29/02	Now that the Christmas season can officially begin, despite what Southern California retailers have been thinking since before Halloween, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the time of year for its emphasis on retrospect. Words like “tradition,” and “history,” and other such creche phrases (sorry, Lon) bring about a peacefulness, and a comfort with one’s place in the cosmos. Were that not so we would never have the nerve to draw attention to what a half-decade in Risqué evolution has meant. Each of us represents the sum total of our experiences, and the people with whom we’ve come in contact. Were it not for everything that happened in our past, none of us would be in precisely this position today. So we’re showing off a good bit of our past, and hoping sincerely you forgive us our graphic transgressions of the day. (Honestly, some of the graphics are down-right ugly.) If you do nothing else, take a look at what Nikita can draw with a trackball; these were some extraordinary women in wonderful times. 11/26/02	We’ve just decided to stop trying to make any sense of what we do. After putting together what in retrospect turns out to have been one of our largest single posts ever, we noticed that as a technical matter, this subject rests at best tangentially related to us. Still, when people catch our eye (our experienced and critical eye, actually), it seems worth note. Consequently, we created “A Stormy Brewing on the Horizon” and put it up for you. Hey, Stormy’s funny, and y’all know that’s our favorite characteristic around here. Sexy, willing to get naked, and funny: You’re a shoo-in for accolades. And it’s honestly nice to see success for a woman in the industry who’s not a “twig with tits” as some more crude than any of us here would be. We’re never crude. Really. Swear. So here’s the gig: There are 160 pictures, two video files, and more $5 words than you run across in a typical New Yorker Magazine article. 11/21/02	Contrary to popular belief, the most powerful person on the planet is not the President of the United States. The President has “checks and balances” and a whole bunch of folks that look over each and every decision, mostly trying to see what personal benefit they can get, but looking nonetheless. The most powerful person in the world is the cable guy. With almost no verifiable supervision, this person (and we admit “guy” may be “girl” ) determines whether or not your Internet business can actually connect to the Internet. All the folks that went to the members’ party know that Wendy hanging all over you while she’s naked may be one of the finer moments in all of life, and it’s good that we take a moment now and again to thank her for her naked self. It’s Kristal’s first “on screen” work for us, and we’d forgotten what an adorable shy thing she used to be. She’s still adorable, even without so much of the shyness these days. See what we mean? You know how it is when you clean house and get rid of a lot of things that have been cluttering up the place? Well, that happens in offices too, and so we’re just tidying up.
