7/27/11	So most adult web sites probably don’t mention either Eugene O’Neill or Michael Landon in their typical discourse, and they certainly don’t weave them into the same conversation we’re guessing. That said, we’ve never made any claims to be on even the same planet as typical in this world, and we do talk about Nikki Kane enough that you can just ignore the old dead guys. 7/22/11	Many types of people end up in the “adult business” although many of them seem quite unwilling to accept it, or at least acknowledge it publicly. A quick trip through the latest “Novelty” convention has highlighted this little fact that we seem to forget, while Shayla choosing an outfit in which to attend a small-town produce “Festival” seems to demonstrate how seamlessly we adapt to the “regular” world. 7/16/11	You just know you’ve made it as a major society in the History of the World when road construction in one of your major cities makes the international news. Either that, or you know it has been an amazingly slow news day. Well, you’ve got a much less painful option to consider over the weekend, and you won’t even have to think about “Carmageddon” in LA at all. The CyCAM makes its episodic debut today, and while potentially as noteworthy as shutting down the major North/South interstate in Los Angeles, it probably won’t make the television news anywhere. 7/4/11	We attended a workshop at a conference once where the speaker began his talk by saying, “We only walk by continually beginning to fall forward.” While we can’t really speak to the relevance for that specific workshop to what followed in our professional careers, since none of us can even remember which one it was – or even what city we were in when we heard it – we have employed the sentiment on occasion. For example, we can see how the theory applies to the freedoms celebrated in America on July 4^th, even if many of us face $2,000 fines should we seek to create our own Rocket’s Red Glare instead of simply enjoying those of the government-sponsored variety. Perhaps most of all, however, Freedom (with a capital “F” don’t you know) allows us to voice introspection and illustrate our points with beautiful naked women. All in all that does seem safer than potentially blowing off your hand or burning the town down. 1/31/10	Ah, but we love these “Performer of the Year” posts. OK. So we love them even more when we happened – some months ago – to suggest to Mr. Ninn that should his new company really wish to lock up at least one contract player, this woman would be an extraordinary choice. Well, Michael did not in fact sign Tori Black, and ironically her continuing freelance status undoubtedly led to her ability to work enough to capture her lofty title. Still, it seemed like a dandy turn to the more traditional around here if we’d pause our “Seen Behind the Scene” on the industry and just provide some video evidencing that occasionally even AVN gets it right. 1/29/10	Highlighting our dedication to really funny t-shirts, we thought we’d share our favorite entry at the Adult Entertainment Expo this year. It read: I got a dog for my wife, and it was the best trade I ever made. … So it’s not exactly Shakespeare, but it does contain a charming pithiness, don’t you think? Well, speaking of endearing pith (and not Shakespeare), we’re continuing our bizarre (even for us) approach to the AEE coverage with D.Minion’s Behind the Scenes look at the filming of those silly and highly entertaining “Intermission Skits” – which AVN uses at the Awards Show while important and necessary things are happening back stage. Rumor has it that Uncle Gibby has video footage from the audience, he having somehow snaked a “VIP All Access” pass to the event, but we’ve seen nothing official confirming that. We’ll keep an eye out, though, even as we’re off to the store to buy a Snuggie. Then we plan on seeing if we can get Monique Alexander to get into it with … basically anyone in the office she chooses. We’re all pretty much on the same page as far as that goes. 1/26/10	As it turns out, the higher the quality of the assets you’re dealing with, the better your equipment needs to be in order to handle it. … Hmm. That’s sort of like dating porn stars if you think about it. … Well, much to his current (and ongoing) dismay, Maverick doesn’t happen to be dating any porn stars at the present, but he does get invited to their parties often. Since he couldn’t handle the low-light video with his system in London, he did have to wait to come to the home office in sunny Southern Cal in order to ready the clip for posting, however. Consequently, the “Christmas Party” reference might seem a bit “dated” (as it were). 1/3/10	Generally when we create this “New Stuff” part of the current site entry, we decorate it (while providing a handy visual link to the story) with a thumbnail graphic culled from the story itself. It’s quick. It’s easy, and it makes sense. Occasionally, though, we do weird things around here, and whatever’s on tap for the day doesn’t actually have a quick and ready graphic for us to multitask here. That happened on December 7^th, but little did we know that this one puny image would actually spawn emails full of curiosity. Well, we decided to answer that question, and pose a few more. 6/29/06	We have a curiously brief report on Erotica LA today, possibly having something to do with D.Minion’s sudden (and almost unexplained) incapacity. Gee. We just can’t figure out what happened. 6/25/06	LA Erotica was actually a bit wackier this year than it has been historically, and we’re blaming D.Minion. That seems fair since she’s been hanging out with Lorraine Sisco altogether too much and has plastered us with 310 pictures, a secret mpeg, and 3000+ words covering the bizarre second day of Lorraine’s The Catalyst. These two women should quit hanging out so much together, and so we’ve decided just to tie DM to a chair in the office, or maybe to one at her house so she could commune with her cat. 6/19/06	Well don’t everyone fall off of their chairs or anything, but we’re back again. The new system seems to be working remarkably well (although we’ll almost certainly regret saying that). We’re going with just a typical little D.Minion story today, this being her “pre-production observations” of Sacred Sin. We looked at the entire story in Word and learned, much to our dismay, that the entire discourse covers some 10,027 words. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, our immediate suggestion was to just give y’all a dozen pictures and let you keep the change. D.Minion’s look was not one of adoration at this suggestion, however. So we’re breaking it up, and we promise to get through it all – if for no other reason than everyone here is pretty much afraid of D.Minion. Women in their 40’s get a little scary you know … . 6/18/06	This isn’t so much a “let’s see if this works” kind of thing as it is a “OK. Fine. We’ve been promising you we’d do this since the Dark Ages (translation: Before Sacred Sin), so now we’re finally doing it.” sort of thing. That said, we still ended up with a rather intimate portrayal of a Fine English Lass named Faye, courtesy of our friend Maverick. Granted, Mav sometimes forgets to focus, and he never once looked into the background of the shot, but considering what Faye was doing and what she was (or was not) wearing, we can kind of understand the scattered approach. For an evolved amateur, Maverick seems to be catching on just fine. He even included a couple of variations on a video theme that we’re just going to stop talking about now, and for the record, we’re just going to assume he’s not the “P” in “POV” … . 2/26/06	Do you know how you know you’re in Los Angeles? I was sitting outside a little sandwich shop yesterday and a guy walked down the street in one of those t-shirts that have obviously been washed about 500 times – you know the “favorite shirt” kind of washing? The shirt said, “If we are what we eat, then I’m going to be you in the morning.” THAT’S how you know you’re in Los Angeles. Now you might want to decide if you’d rather spend a few days in LA, or (finally) peruse D.Minon’s account of the 2006 AEE. They should both take about the same amount of time, we’re betting, but the DM insights will still be cheaper, so they have that going for them. 2/21/06	We’ve got a Big Time Stall going on around here today, but that doesn’t matter as much because we’ve also got the luscious Sarah Blake to help us fill our time. We’ve often said that we lead a very strange life, but it may be that strangeness has no bounds around us. A graduating high school senior (Yes, he’s 18, D.Minon.) casually asked me at lunch if I knew anything about Porn Stars. It seems his final paper has to do with “Women Enslaved by Pornography.” And the only thing this kid knows about me is that I’m friends with his dad. I expect I’d better ask Dad how much I can tell the young inquiring mind. As it turns out, I probably do know something about this subject. The rest of you should probably just enjoy Sarah. 2/17/06	It’s quite possible that we have a Secret Agent as a member. At least that’s the latest philosophy around here, as we all went through Mr. Moto’s Photos from the AEE. After looking at over 1,000 pictures, not to mention actually attending the event, you’d think we wouldn’t be surprised by the people that our good friend managed to photograph. So we figure he just has some special powers, but at least he only uses them for good, and he does share with us after all, so that’s OK. 2/1/06	We’ve said it before, but we really do lead very strange lives around here. And apparently the condition can be catching as we’ll learn today. Once a distant Kristal Summers fan, then a shy Members’ Party attendee, and eventually a regular visitor to the Risqué homefront, our friend Maverick has taken a professional turn that’s really hard to explain. Now it’s not so much that the industry has a new webmaster among its members as it is that Maverick is that new persona. We know Maverick, and Maverick does NOT shoot POV videos with professional adult entertainers. Something is very, very wrong in the universe. We’re calling this “Fayed to Maverick” but that’s only for as long as it takes us to find that “Turn Back Time” Machine.
