We encourage reading the classics around here. And then we encourage reading almost anything else. Reading is good, and your head doesn’t hurt nearly as much the next morning if you spend the evening reading rather than developing a personal relationship with, say, Jack Daniels. OK. Maybe if you spend the evening reading the Republican National Platform it might, but nobody really reads that anyway, do they? In honor of this encouragement, today we’re taking a twist on the classics with “Of Vice, Not Men,” and while certainly not destined to be required fodder at some future university it has the distinct benefit of including Juli Ashton, Alexandra Silk, and Devinn Lane among its subject matter. A funny thing happened on the way to the web post today. One of the site management tools that we use pointed out that this Night Calls, August, 2005 entry represents a total of 5,000 pages that we’ve laid out for the world to see. That seems significant … not like the stars in a mountain sky at night or anything, but still significant. But although we’ve been good at honesty over the years, we’ve probably never been good at understanding significance. It’s a shortcoming we’ve learned to live with, however. So we’re going to leave it up to someone else to add that particular aspect. For our part, we plan on watching the Broncos on Monday Night Football, all the while hoping that Kansas City sent all of their players to assist in the hurricane relief efforts instead of bringing them to Denver. Now we can tell you about D.Minion’s visit to the set of Lost Angels – Wanda Curtis, and of course provide all of the usual fascinating insights delivered in laconic observation. OK. Maybe “laconic” might be more that we could hope for … so let’s go with “pithy” … and you guys can get on the Message Board and blame “bradcom” for the renewed fascination with words around here. One of the editors bought a bargain bin Word of the Day calendar and has felt it necessary to try to use the words for the 267 days that have already passed this year — in one week. (Bradcom owes the office a beer, by the way.) To D.Minion’s credit we should note, however, that she did provide 135 wonderful photograps of beautifully unclad women … oh, and some cows, an aging motorbike, and a couple of landscapes of a water truck. Oops. We got called into the Principal’s office today, or at least its porn equivalent. It seems we haven’t been practicing the proper reverence for the vaunted Adult Video News Awards. You know, we’d be really sorry, but proper reverence has never been one of our better subjects, and we’ve pretty much come to grips with this failure over the years. While we’re contemplating our wrong-doing, and driving all the way to Los Angeles to hear about it, by the way, we thought we’d let you kill a little time with the Anais version of (the) Pool Party. Now you’d think that being a “lab rat” wouldn’t be the most fun job in the world. However, provided no one really cuts open your head to stick pointy electrical things into your brain, there are some positive things to be said for the potential. If, for example, you have Anais and Jana Cova as your visual “aides” (as it were) for the day, well maybe it would be OK to just hang for the time being. We can always escape later. Also not bad would be the triumphant return of the Ninn Worx Weekend, at least since we get to talk even more about Justine Joli. We certainly seem to be living in a “phase” mode these days, don’t we? You know what would be wonderful? It would be wonderful if people always did just what they said they were going to do. That would be great, wouldn’t it? In my decade (plus) of Porn Star Management I always said that if you just do what you say you’re going to do, that generally being showing up on time, looking good, with the wardrobe you need, and knowing your lines, you’d immediately be in the top 2% of the working talent. Sad, isn’t it? But it’s still true, although “lines” aren’t as commonly used as they once were, what with corporations buying up all of the companies and the time taken to do “dialogue” being hard to justify on a silly balance sheet that somebody who’s never even seen an adult movie has responsibility for. Video may have killed the radio star, but Business may beat us all to death sooner or later …. OK. We’ve stalled enough. If you don’t recall our promise, then you’re probably not a member anyway, and you haven’t even read this far before you clicked away to another page. Rumor has it that one of our own has a birthday today, and like responsible adults we know exactly how to treat mere rumors. … We consider them Gospel, and then endeavor to tell as many people as we can remember about the scandalous circumstances that we can recall, or at least make up. Think about it. When else would the entire address book of your email, or the entire listings in your cell phone directory, become valuable? So Kristal Summers has a birthday, and apparently that’s a unique enough of an occurrence to spur us into action. … OK. It’s at least enough of an occurrence to entice us into wishing Kristal a Happy Day … and to show off one of Kristal’s “Flirty Dozen” … She’s really a great person; it’s the least we can do. Did you ever notice how life tends to go in cycles? You know how you won’t even think about a certain restaurant for months and then all of the sudden you’ll end up there three times in two weeks? Weird, isn’t it? Well, that seems to be what’s happened here, although it certainly didn’t originate as any sort of a plan or anything. We seem to have gone from the Ninn Worx barrage to Angel Cassidy week as today we find D.Minion “Enraptured” with the comely lass as she was on set shooting the last of her contract movies for Michael. All we know is we’ve gone from the “camel through the eye of the needle” analysis to a movie called Rapture. We’re thinking we’d better be on our P’s and Q’s for a little bit, which we define around here as Perspicaciously Quixotic. What do you do if you have to spend all day with Anais, Angel Cassidy, and Wanda Curtis, watching them get naked and pose glamorously for the multiple cameras in the room? Well, if you’re D.Minion you forget all about it, at least that’s what happened this time. We were going through a bunch of discs, looking for a good shot for the upcoming Angel Cassidy Exposed, and D.Minion became positive she had never seen these sets before. “Um,” I said. (I often use eloquent speech patterns such as this.) “You were there,” I explained (as I endeavor to be both erudite and patient). “You even wrote a story about it,” I concluded.

“I did?” said our Diminutive One. “Did you ever put it up?”

“Probably not,” I confessed. “I miss a lot of old stuff because of all of the new stuff.” Well, as you may have guessed, D.Minion found the story and the accompanying pictures, and now you can see them today. Also, we have concluded that not only do we occasionally dazzle with our impressive use of the English language, we often have some trouble just getting to the point. Have you noticed? We call it … Promotion on an Angelic Scale … And we’ll just be quiet now.

Ah, vacation is nice. You take a couple of days off, and you come back and work through a couple of nice little stories about Dee from the early days of KSEX, those being 2/12/04 and 8/19/04 and you look through about 50 nice pictures. Then you read some nice D.Minion insights, and you watch the Broncos win a meaningless game that has the Denver press advising the NFL to just go ahead and ship the Super Bowl XL Lombardi trophy to Colorado now. Now this post was supposed to go up before we took off out of town to shoot the next batch of Ninn Worx shows, these being Neo_Pornographia 3 and Angel Cassidy Exposed. That was the plan anyway. We even bribed a couple people to stay late on Friday just to help put all of the galleries together for what we’re calling Catherine … The Finished. (Available in both the Standard Double-Disc and Limited Editition Collector’s versions, don’t you know.) But the combination of being in a hurry, and being all but beaten to death turned out not to be really very helpful. For some reason, we couldn’t get the darned images to show up when we tried to test the pages on the web. This morning, back from LA, and much better rested, we discovered that we forgot to put the pictures and the trailer on the server. Well, it’s done. We still can’t really say the name of it without fear of irritating the nervous twitch we’ve developed, but IT has been delivered to the replicators, all 5+ hours of it, not counting the 10 or so it would take someone to go through all of the DVD ROM part of the Bonus Disc. … So we were going to put up one last post to advertise it, and we asked D.Minion to pick “a few” shots from the show to give you all. Deep in the [censored]-throws, she came up with 240 of them. Rather than wait to get all of these processed, we decided to just pop in a nice little Night Calls story, with nice little Juli Ashton and Tiffany Granath antics. It’s got to be about time for another episode of the series, and this way we’ll actually be caught up here ahead of time. Hmm. We’re not quite sure how to respond when the guy brought in for a few weeks to help out starts making fun of the guy that signs the paychecks around here — publicly. Well, that’s not exactly accurate, as the various members of our motley crew seem to be quite amused by the turn of events, and it’s only the “Geeky Guy” that’s having some issue with it. Ah, well, it does appear that something’s gone amiss (yet again, I know) with some of the scripts on the server, and after going through what remains of Catherine late yesterday, and then looking at a calendar, I just decided to laugh about everything anyway. Sometimes that’s what you gotta do. When life gives you lemons, as we’ve learned, you find someone that life has given vodka — and have a party. So while I’m off in search of vodka, or a few more hours in the day, enjoy some wonderful shots of Inari Vachs that I happened to run across “unpublished” as they were. Naturally, I found these when I was looking for something else entirely — naturally. You know, back when Deb was writing for us, she used to call me the “Big Dick” on the site. We might just be getting old, but this whole Catherine … Michael … Ninn Worx … thing is kicking our collective butts. And these aren’t the fun kind of butts to collect in this business either. So we’re having a wee bit of another Sneak Peek, and we’re not even trying to hide it this time around. Hell, if we went anywhere to hide, we’d certainly fall asleep, and then we’d never get this sucker done. You know what we need? We need some more nice little movies all about Dee, or Kristal, or even Wendy or Anais. We need something that didn’t involve thousands of miles of travel and tens (of tens) of thousands of dollars to work on. That’s what we need. It’s Memorial Day Weekend, as most of the US folks know, and we’re celebrating. True, most Americans likely can’t even remember what we’re supposed to be memorializing (as anyone that’s ever seen “Jaywalking” on The Tonight Show can attest), but a very few people might recall that some people have spent millions of dollars, and some rather more important people have died, giving us the chance to carve our little free niche in the world. So grill some beef. Eat some hotdogs. Play frisbee with your dog. … And try not to be too upset with the fact that banks are closed on Monday. At least most of you don’t have to go to work, after all. Oh, and if you’ve got the time, you might check out D.Minion’s Risqué Retrospective. Nobody died, and not even any animals were harmed, in this little synopsis of time. But, gee, ain’t it funny how time slips away? The Porn Industry hasn’t quite figured out the deceptively important concept of picking a title with care. We tend to name things with what they ARE, rather than what they’re ABOUT. Of course many would say that’s simply because the adult “movies” are exactly what they are about, but those people are still wearing trenchcoats and looking for cheap thrills from a hole in the wall if you ask me. Fortunately, no one asks me much, and so I can spend my time enjoying Dee Directing once again. Also, I don’t blame her for the title. You can now enjoy her too. So you meet a new person, and you’re still in the getting to know each other stage, right? Well somebody new on the Risqué periphery was describing a friend of hers. “She’s a real Right-Winger,” says the strange new person (who gets stranger by the minute sometimes), “but she’s a closet liberal, because she has gay friends, and even a Jewish one.”

Aside from the patently offensive implications here, we also saw a dandy opportunity to introduce Night Calls from March of 2005, since we love irony in all of its many forms. You see, this particular Night Calls episode, besides featuring the usual Juli Ashton and Tiffany Granath raucousness, had a group of beautiful female boxers as their guests, and if I ever knew two women that needed a punch in the mouth … well, you just heard from them on the periphery. I got fired from my job last week, and I was pretty upset about it. So I was watching the surf, eating a couple of wonderfully spicy carne asada tacos and sipping fresh limeade (that I got from a tiny beach-side place most people never even notice) when I thought, “Hey!
