1/24/07	Here’s a shirt you can’t wear just everywhere: “ASS. The New Vagina.” … This and other observations come through today in the first “Dear Readers Speak” in a couple of years it seems like. Sometimes the uninitiated are so darned cute. And sometimes they’re a bit painful in their honesty. It’s interesting how “regular” people look at an event like the AVN Awards Show, and it’s equally interesting (although certainly quite a bit more odd) how many pictures our own “three amigos” seemed to take of each other. Fortunately they at least had the courtesy to include various fetching women in the photographs too. In the midst of “plowing through” we seem to have wandered down a diversion. We love that. 1/20/07	We’re taking baby steps here, not so much because of the Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss movie but because that seemed like a reasonable way to start our assault on the current queue. Consequently we decided to open with a nice little D.Minion story about getting ready for the AVN Awards show this year … with Heather Vuur, Audrey Hollander, Faith Leon, Monica Mayhem, Ruby Flame, Lorraine Sisco, and of course Dee and Kristal. There were some boys there too, but who really notices them with this cast of females? We did read a wonderfully pithy quote in a Lawrence Block book that would fit right in here. Speaking of a particularly attractive female character Mr. Block described her as sending off “a subliminal message that said, Sleep with me and you will die. But it will be worth it.” If you haven’t read the Bernie Rhodenbarr “Burglar” series by Lawrence Block, by the way, you’re missing out on some very funny and entertaining times. While you’re checking Amazon, though, you might look at these pictures and Mav’s video. That’s a fine way to spend some time too. 1/15/07	Hey, we lived through it! (Of course “lived” would be a relative term here.) You know what’s a really bad idea? Reading a Steven King (technically Richard Bachman, though) book about a grueling and ultimately fatal competition whose only characteristic happens to be that it involves lots and lots of walking, precisely while you’re attending a convention that also necessarily involves lots and lots of walking. This is a bad idea. While we’re valiantly trying to make some semblance of order of the 2,000+ pictures, a couple hours of video, multiple audio files, and more autographs then we’ve even begun to count, we thought we’d share a little joy that can come from a virus. Hey, weirdness begets weirdness, and if the Risqué site doesn’t prove that theory for you, then you haven’t really been paying attention. On the upside, we’ve recently had many opportunities to use an almost forgotten phrase, “My dogs are barkin’ now.” And if you know what that means, while you may not be a Redneck yourself, you certainly know at least one. 1/8/07	You knew, of course, that we would not be allowed to leave the LA area and head for Las Vegas before we had accomplished DM’s task of adding the Essentially Juli AND Shayla Double-DVD to the catalogue, right? Well, we did that, and then we set up some things to keep you occupied for the next week as we converge (from many points of the world, truth be told) on the annual Adult Entertainment Expo for the next week. Consider it a bonus for today, and then consider coming with us next year. You really haven’t lived until you’ve seen some drunk and crying XXX performer, devastated because she didn’t win the “Best Anal Sex Scene” Award. What a surreal world in which we exist. 1/6/07	Guess what follows “Day One” of something, and even sometimes only a few days later. Correct. … “Day Two” …. So we really needn’t even give you much of a build up here, because certainly you’ve already committed Day One on the Set (of Facade) with D.Minion to memory and all that has been keeping you from sleeping is wondering what in the world happened on the dialogue day of the movie. Well, you can in fact read about that today, but you’ll have to wade through all the sex scenes with Mika Tan, Daisy Marie, and Alexis Love in order to find this crucial information. 1/3/07	We learned a fun fact about the entertainment industry today. The cost of shooting ONE episode of the formerly famous TV show, Maimi Vice, actually cost more money than the budget for the entire YEAR of Miami’s actual Vice Squad. Hmm. … Well, nobody said that the entertainment industry makes sense, and so we quickly gloss over our bit of insight into that and look at some pictures of beautiful Dee, gracing the shores of Jamaica. 1/1/07	It occurred to us that peering into a Facade might be a dandy way to start the New Year, considering the business we’re in and all. We didn’t really give that enough thought considering all the football on TV today though, as even just Day One on the Set with D.Minion turned out to be one of those “thousands of words and 225 pictures” sort of DM days. Ah, well we technically made it as a New Year’s Day post anyway, assuming you happen to live in the Pacific Time Zone at least. Some times you just need to channel some old country songs as you go through life. Those of you that remember Bobby Bare will understand this: “[We] got ‘er, boy, and that’s what makes [us] THE WINNER.” Whew …. 11/19/06	Naturally most of you will be way too busy today watching football to see any of the insights that Maverick finally decided to give us (along with the “documentary” video naturally) from his last g/g shoot. Still, since they only have “that other kind of football” over there in the U.K., though, today seemed like a good time to give those dern foreigners (which is pretty much what we call everyone that doesn’t watch football, regardless of their place of domicile) something to do. The rest of you can catch it on Monday after work. No. … That won’t work because of Monday Night Football on ESPN, and since Thursdays are now gone starting this week with new night games on the NFL Network, you’re pretty much going to have to fit it in on Tuesday or Wednesday, or just make an excuse for being late for your weekend dates. 11/15/06	Oh, goodness we have many, many pictures today. We’re off for a couple of days to attend a Digital Video Convention down in LA, and we thought we’d give you a little to look at while we’re gone. Silly us. Maybe we should have thought this through a little more carefully before we plopped down some 300-odd (and some very odd) photos to go through in Days Two and Three of D.Minion’s typically epic coverage of the shoot. Ah well, it is the rest of the Aperture shoot, and so it is Heather Vuur, and Marie Luv, and Daisy Marie … and yada, yada. Sometimes people over-complicate things in life. 11/10/06	Ah-Hah! We have found the solution to the temptation to run off at the mouth/keyboard that we sometimes see around here. If you just limit the day to one scene, and then you place it in a location that’s functionally impossible for D.Minion to get to, you actually end up with a manageable amount of text and pictures that now define Day One on the set of Aperture. Wow. … Still, we see two sort of major problems with this. First, no human being we’ve ever met can claim any sort of influence over how Michael will do anything at all associated with his movies, and second, the trouble with finding solutions to temptations seems historically to be that the pesky temptations simply mutate into something a lot more formidable. 11/9/06	Sometimes things get lost in translation. That happens. … It doesn’t often happen, however, between the U.S. and the U.K. it would seem. Other than the odd “knickers” reference and a “fag” here or there confusion, we can really communicate fairly well we’ve always thought. Granted, we’ll never understand blood sausage, and although rugby has its appeal, to us a “cricket” will always be a harmless little bug that makes pleasant noises in the evening. Still, overall, we pretty much understand each other. Consequently, our scientists ought to be able to communicate just fine as well, right? Well obviously something got mucked up in the trek across the Atlantic because although we all know that carrots are good for our eyesight, the way that we get that nifty vitamin A into our systems somewhat differs from how they appear to over in Maverick’s land. 11/7/06	Another Ninn Worx shoot is in the books, or on the HD Tapes, or whatever, and we’re back in a much more peaceful land. Our favorite crew t-shirt of this shoot read: I’m like a Superhero – with no powers or motivation. That may not excuse much, but as an explanation we found it wonderful. Speaking of not having excuses, GO OUT AND VOTE TODAY. We’ve provided a little visual humor on which you can ruminate during your travels to the polls, and we don’t even care how you vote. It is most important that you do so, however. Pictures are just very brief moments in time, and your actions today have a chance to be a little more than that. OK. 10/31/08	We have a lot of wonderful posts around here. (Right?) But we don’t always have wonderfully timed posts around here. Part of the nature of a true “reality in the porn business” site happens to be that schedules can change rapidly – and frequently. We don’t do the typical “print every press release you can find about the business and then try to sell advertising space on your site” sort of approach that almost all of the adult sites do these days. We just try to provide a meek little “Adult Diary” (remember that name you old timers?) of what happens in our little neck of the woods (or whatever body part seems pertinent that particular day). So imagine our surprise when we woke up and somebody on The Today Show mentioned that it’s Halloween. Gee. You’d think we’d notice something like that, at least you would if you didn’t understand the chaos that occasionally defines our existence. Still, we changed the plan once again because there’s really nothing more apropos for this particular day than “Dee & Demon Dog” …. You can see that, right? … Maybe we’ll use today’s plan for tomorrow, or maybe by tomorrow the plan will change again and we’ll have to postpone it to some future time, at which point we’ll undoubtedly say, “Didn’t we put that up yesterday?” Sadly, we’re occasionally like that too. 10/25/06	Lon sent in his pictures from The Gathering and soon they will be selling for millions of dollars. If you want to understand the logic behind that, you’ll have to read today’s post. If, however, you’d prefer just seeing Justine Joli in various states of undress (all in California, ironically) doing various “things” to herself, then at least this will be much easier to understand. 10/22/06	Well, we’re a little lighter in the salary column than we were a week ago (or we will be in a month), but sometimes people get just a little too comfortable, a little too quickly, you know? 10/19/06	Today we have Lon’s take (and D.Minion’s comments) on The Gathering. Sometimes you need to be careful about the adjectives that you choose, because you don’t want to give the wrong impression. Those grammar aficionados out there will quickly recognize that this first sentence has no adjectives. Make of that what you will. … Oh, and if you’re wondering where we got the unusual thumbnail for this post, you’ll have to check out the entry. Just like Sacred Sin there is a “secret code” somewhere in the story that tells you the answer to this burning question. Unlike Sacred Sin, however, you will not win a free autographed Eddie Van Halen guitar if you are the first to guess the answer. Sorry. On the upside, also unlike Sacred Sin, this “code” is just written in plain English, so it’s really not that hard to figure out. You take the bad with the good in life. 10/18/06	Sometimes you just need to take a break. For example if you’re innocently looking at coming in to work and putting together a festive look at being on the set of Fem: L’Amour and then somebody runs up before you even sit down and says they’re “not done with the 339 pictures yet, and don’t bug me about it.” And then you hear loud cursing sounds from an office close by that says “10,000 f*king words?” And then the normally unflappable computer dude happens by without* the heretofore ubiquitous cup of coffee, and says (for the very first time you’ve ever heard, ever) “I’m not sure if I can do anything with these mpeg files for Friday. … Clearly drastic and frantic solutions were in order, and the Big-Boss-Hog-Honcho’s off in meeting today. … Immediately a stunningly simple solution came to mind, involving a simply stunning Anais. … Don’t you love it when a different plan comes together? 6/29/06	We have a curiously brief report on Erotica LA today, possibly having something to do with D.Minion’s sudden (and almost unexplained) incapacity. Gee. We just can’t figure out what happened. But there are 60 pictures here, and some video clips of items seen at the show that almost uniformly have no practical application. Come to think of it, that pretty much defines our goal in life. 6/25/06	LA Erotica was actually a bit wackier this year than it has been historically, and we’re blaming D.Minion. That seems fair since she’s been hanging out with Lorraine Sisco altogether too much and has plastered us with 310 pictures, a secret mpeg, and 3000+ words covering the bizarre second day of Lorraine’s The Catalyst. These two women should quit hanging out so much together, and so we’ve decided just to tie DM to a chair in the office, or maybe to one at her house so she could commune with her cat. We’re definitely breaking her keyboard, so enjoy these Mega-Epics while you can. Some day we’ll look back on this and laugh … She swears. 6/20/06	It’s a bit of nostalgia, with stories of a young Devinn Lane, and it’s a bit of awe, as we look at all the Wicked Pictures can do with a DVD release, and it’s more than a bit of the shamelessness that makes us loveable that we’re offering today. Well, maybe we’re not loveable, per se, but that’s really the only word we could think of on the spur of the moment, and we didn’t want to delay you any further from D.Minion’s review of Wicked’s Camp Cuddly Pines Power Tool Massacre. 6/19/06	Well don’t everyone fall off of their chairs or anything, but we’re back again. The new system seems to be working remarkably well (although we’ll almost certainly regret saying that). We’re going with just a typical little D.Minion story today, this being her “pre-production observations” of Sacred Sin. We looked at the entire story in Word and learned, much to our dismay, that the entire discourse covers some 10,027 words. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, our immediate suggestion was to just give y’all a dozen pictures and let you keep the change. D.Minion’s look was not one of adoration at this suggestion, however. So we’re breaking it up, and we promise to get through it all – if for no other reason than everyone here is pretty much afraid of D.Minion. Women in their 40’s get a little scary you know … . 6/18/06	This isn’t so much a “let’s see if this works” kind of thing as it is a “OK. Fine. We’ve been promising you we’d do this since the Dark Ages (translation: Before Sacred Sin), so now we’re finally doing it.” sort of thing. That said, we still ended up with a rather intimate portrayal of a Fine English Lass named Faye, courtesy of our friend Maverick. Granted, Mav sometimes forgets to focus, and he never once looked into the background of the shot, but considering what Faye was doing and what she was (or was not) wearing, we can kind of understand the scattered approach. For an evolved amateur, Maverick seems to be catching on just fine. He even included a couple of variations on a video theme that we’re just going to stop talking about now, and for the record, we’re just going to assume he’s not the “P” in “POV” … . 6/17/09	Experimentations and Confirmations continue as we struggle desperately to find something to serve the dual purpose of being interesting for you, and giving us a chance to stretch the limits of our server capabilities. 6/17/06	Those of you that have been members for awhile will recognize the “Gee, we tried to automate the mechanics here, and we’re just sufficiently weird in the way we approach the web that even really smart web people can’t figure out how to fit us into any sort of automatic database system.” Ah, well. Quite honestly this isn’t the first area in life where we’ve continued to learn that we just don’t fit in all that well. … So we’re back to the old “do it by hand” method, and we’ve got to run through the variety of different types of posts that we do in order to be sure everything’s back to normal — well, normal to us. You can start today to see if things Clique for you as they have for many people (judging from sales of the title), and we’ll move along to the next “hand-crafted” category. You know, if you find yourself in this sort of situation in your own lives, you might just start considering yourself an “artisan” like we’ve decided to do; it beats the heck out of the “Gawd, I’m a dinosaur.” sort of philosophy.
