| 2/2/25 |  Should many of us devise our own “Ground Hog’s Day” reality, we would almost certainly come up with a plot that intertwines connections between our favorite people. The embroidered nature of the Risqué Commune just so happens to allow for many such occasions, and when you come up with a plot that brings back around Dee, Juli Ashton, and Taren Steele just being themselves, well, only a crazy person would not want to live that day over an over again. So celebrate today; remember how funny Bill Murray used to be, and be very, very thankful that we do not have to spend the next days (or weeks or months) just listening to one political party bitch about the other or watching NFL “experts” talk about what might happen during the Draft which won’t even happen until the end of April. School has started again most everywhere, and after the first week or so we can be certain of one thing absolutely. Passed amongst friends, slipped into lockers, slid under dorm room doors, whatever, biological imperative trumps — pardon the expression — even heated politics. So we decided to relaunch our full movie Love Letters in honor of the joy of being college students. It was probably in honor of Kristal Summers too, honestly. So without going there, we can admit that we have found ourselves back in the world of virtual meetings, if that tells you anything. So we’re still thinking about the AEE in January, but we’re also thinking about not ending up infected by unwashed masses in an unnaturally cramped room too. (Hey, there’s a lot of drool at a porn convention.) So while we continue to think and see what happens, we thought we would revisit via remaster a particularly memorable trip from a few years ago. Most of the time this happens purely by the passage of time as generations of workers apply their methods to the “new” realities. Every time we go to one of the big industry conventions we begin anew missing the elegance that Michael Ninn brought to the genre. Sure there continue to be some very fine directors that do some very fine work — even a bit of it quite beautiful — but Michael just had a way with talent, and quite simply with light that sets him apart from mere mortals. Since he celebrates his birthday on this date every year, we miss him and thank him all at the same time. We have all made it one more year
