9/10/15	Even people that have wildly enjoyable jobs will sometimes find themselves in a position where reality takes an ugly bite out of a day. Tomorrow will obviously be such a day, thus we decided to remember it today. If we get a bit of public service out of the way as well, so much the better. Some realities just defy explanation. 9/7/15	On a day when 90% of the country enjoys a holiday, those at either end of the professional spectrum tend to be at work. Executives sneak into the office for a few hours, prepared to at least enjoy the peace and quiet, while those with the least seniority do whatever they usually do for a living and pine for a time when they too get to demand family time when most regular people get it. This latter group should be careful what they wish for, at the very least setting their sights somewhere below the Executive Level, but then people rarely exhibit such foresight, so they will eventually find out for themselves. For our “executive part” we found it necessary to correct some underling failures of late, but we don’t mind too much. First of all, it meant dealing with Dee again, and that always makes for a pleasant day, and, most importantly, when we come into work tomorrow, we will still be the boss at the meeting. 9/2/15	When your inspirational leader goes walk-about for the summer, it can become a bit bizarre around the office. 10/31/08	We have a lot of wonderful posts around here. (Right?) But we don’t always have wonderfully timed posts around here. Part of the nature of a true “reality in the porn business” site happens to be that schedules can change rapidly – and frequently. We don’t do the typical “print every press release you can find about the business and then try to sell advertising space on your site” sort of approach that almost all of the adult sites do these days. We just try to provide a meek little “Adult Diary” (remember that name you old timers?) of what happens in our little neck of the woods (or whatever body part seems pertinent that particular day). So imagine our surprise when we woke up and somebody on The Today Show mentioned that it’s Halloween. Gee. You’d think we’d notice something like that, at least you would if you didn’t understand the chaos that occasionally defines our existence. Still, we changed the plan once again because there’s really nothing more apropos for this particular day than “Dee & Demon Dog” …. You can see that, right? … Maybe we’ll use today’s plan for tomorrow, or maybe by tomorrow the plan will change again and we’ll have to postpone it to some future time, at which point we’ll undoubtedly say, “Didn’t we put that up yesterday?” Sadly, we’re occasionally like that too. Those grammar aficionados out there will quickly recognize that this first sentence has no adjectives. Make of that what you will. … Oh, and if you’re wondering where we got the unusual thumbnail for this post, you’ll have to check out the entry. Just like Sacred Sin there is a “secret code” somewhere in the story that tells you the answer to this burning question. Unlike Sacred Sin, however, you will not win a free autographed Eddie Van Halen guitar if you are the first to guess the answer. Sorry. 10/18/06	Sometimes you just need to take a break. For example if you’re innocently looking at coming in to work and putting together a festive look at being on the set of Fem: L’Amour and then somebody runs up before you even sit down and says they’re “not done with the 339 pictures yet, and don’t bug me about it.” And then you hear loud cursing sounds from an office close by that says “10,000 f*king words?” And then the normally unflappable computer dude happens by without* the heretofore ubiquitous cup of coffee, and says (for the very first time you’ve ever heard, ever) “I’m not sure if I can do anything with these mpeg files for Friday. … Clearly drastic and frantic solutions were in order, and the Big-Boss-Hog-Honcho’s off in meeting today. … Immediately a stunningly simple solution came to mind, involving a simply stunning Anais. … Don’t you love it when a different plan comes together? 10/23/05	You know what’s worse than your team losing in the last 10 seconds? OK, so put a technical date of 10/25/05 on this post, because after the proper amount of grieving time, we happened to notice this little clerical error. 10/15/05	So the hectic pace around here lately has led to way too many episodes of fast food and pizza delivery. We started realizing that we were probably lacking in some important vitamins, and unless somebody recently changed the four basic food groups to be Triscuits, Beef Jerky, Skittles, and Beer, we might be missing some other things on the nutritional scale too. Then we realized that we’d been lacking Dee stories as well. Obviously we decided that concepts of “Good Health” remain clearly relative, and then we sent D.Minion out for more beer. 10/12/05	Don’t you love words to live by? “If you can’t be a good example, at least you can serve as a horrible warning.” That’s what I learned in a book I was reading recently. At then outside the Adult Video News offices I noticed a bumper sticker that highlighted a Voltaire quote, saying, “Those that can convince you of absurdities can get you to commit atrocities.” All in all it’s been a pretty deep week, it seems to me. 6/30/05	You know what? We haven’t been talking about Dee enough. For awhile we just thought these uncomfortable feelings were just from the long hours at Ninn Worx, or trying to get a deep understanding of really sexy subjects like “video compression techniques” or something. We even gave the “must have had some bad seafood” theory a brief visit, but then we realized that unless it comes wrapped in paper, we haven’t eaten it lately. Then we saw Dee at LA Erotica and we realized the obvious truth of the matter: We haven’t been talking about Dee enough. You know, you can spend time with your head buried in codec geekdom, on machines that cost many thousands of dollars, and you still miss the simple stuff. 6/27/05	Conventions and Events pretty much describe the modern working world in America. No matter what you do for a living, there’s almost certainly a convention somewhere (every year) that brings all of you like-minded people together … probably to talk amongst yourselves about how hideous it is to try to do what you do for a living. … well … We have those also.
