9/30/05	We encourage reading the classics around here. And then we encourage reading almost anything else. Reading is good, and your head doesn’t hurt nearly as much the next morning if you spend the evening reading rather than developing a personal relationship with, say, Jack Daniels. OK. Maybe if you spend the evening reading the Republican National Platform it might, but nobody really reads that anyway, do they? In honor of this encouragement, today we’re taking a twist on the classics with “Of Vice, Not Men,” and while certainly not destined to be required fodder at some future university it has the distinct benefit of including Juli Ashton, Alexandra Silk, and Devinn Lane among its subject matter. 9/26/05	A funny thing happened on the way to the web post today. One of the site management tools that we use pointed out that this Night Calls, August, 2005 entry represents a total of 5,000 pages that we’ve laid out for the world to see. That seems significant … not like the stars in a mountain sky at night or anything, but still significant. But although we’ve been good at honesty over the years, we’ve probably never been good at understanding significance. It’s a shortcoming we’ve learned to live with, however. So we’re going to leave it up to someone else to add that particular aspect. For our part, we plan on watching the Broncos on Monday Night Football, all the while hoping that Kansas City sent all of their players to assist in the hurricane relief efforts instead of bringing them to Denver. 9/24/05	Now we can tell you about D.Minion’s visit to the set of Lost Angels – Wanda Curtis, and of course provide all of the usual fascinating insights delivered in laconic observation. OK. Maybe “laconic” might be more that we could hope for … so let’s go with “pithy” … and you guys can get on the Message Board and blame “bradcom” for the renewed fascination with words around here. One of the editors bought a bargain bin Word of the Day calendar and has felt it necessary to try to use the words for the 267 days that have already passed this year — in one week. (Bradcom owes the office a beer, by the way.) To D.Minion’s credit we should note, however, that she did provide 135 wonderful photograps of beautifully unclad women … oh, and some cows, an aging motorbike, and a couple of landscapes of a water truck. 9/23/05	It’s time once again for the Revelry of the Lab Rats. Oh. That would be us, by the way. However, this may not be as onerous as one might think, but we shouldn’t really explain it here because then everyone would hear about it. 9/21/05	Oops. We got called into the Principal’s office today, or at least its porn equivalent. It seems we haven’t been practicing the proper reverence for the vaunted Adult Video News Awards. You know, we’d be really sorry, but proper reverence has never been one of our better subjects, and we’ve pretty much come to grips with this failure over the years. While we’re contemplating our wrong-doing, and driving all the way to Los Angeles to hear about it, by the way, we thought we’d let you kill a little time with the Anais version of (the) Pool Party. We might be using that term fairly loosely here, come to think of it. … Drat. … There we go again being all impertinent and the like. 9/14/05	Being rather the pragmatic type, we tend to pay attention when someone wants to teach us something. Hey, if someone wants to use us for our brains, we might as well get something out of the deal, right? 9/13/05	Now you’d think that being a “lab rat” wouldn’t be the most fun job in the world. However, provided no one really cuts open your head to stick pointy electrical things into your brain, there are some positive things to be said for the potential. If, for example, you have Anais and Jana Cova as your visual “aides” (as it were) for the day, well maybe it would be OK to just hang for the time being. We can always escape later. 9/10/05	It was 12:34 on May 6th, 1978 … Naturally, this made it 12345678 …. Well, at 11:12 today it will 9-10-11-12 (sort of) which isn’t as cool by any means, but it’s not bad. Also not bad would be the triumphant return of the Ninn Worx Weekend, at least since we get to talk even more about Justine Joli. We certainly seem to be living in a “phase” mode these days, don’t we? Ah, well, as long as the pretty girls keep on telling us secret stuff and letting us into their lives, this seems like a good place to hang around. 9/6/05	You know what would be wonderful? It would be wonderful if people always did just what they said they were going to do. That would be great, wouldn’t it? In my decade (plus) of Porn Star Management I always said that if you just do what you say you’re going to do, that generally being showing up on time, looking good, with the wardrobe you need, and knowing your lines, you’d immediately be in the top 2% of the working talent. Sad, isn’t it? But it’s still true, although “lines” aren’t as commonly used as they once were, what with corporations buying up all of the companies and the time taken to do “dialogue” being hard to justify on a silly balance sheet that somebody who’s never even seen an adult movie has responsibility for. Video may have killed the radio star, but Business may beat us all to death sooner or later …. OK. We’ve stalled enough. 9/1/05	Rumor has it that one of our own has a birthday today, and like responsible adults we know exactly how to treat mere rumors. … We consider them Gospel, and then endeavor to tell as many people as we can remember about the scandalous circumstances that we can recall, or at least make up. Think about it. When else would the entire address book of your email, or the entire listings in your cell phone directory, become valuable? So Kristal Summers has a birthday, and apparently that’s a unique enough of an occurrence to spur us into action. … OK. It’s at least enough of an occurrence to entice us into wishing Kristal a Happy Day … and to show off one of Kristal’s “Flirty Dozen” … She’s really a great person; it’s the least we can do. 7/27/05	Oh, boy … Now we’ve done it. For those of you that aren’t members of both sites, Michael (over at MichaelNinn.com obviously) recently wanted us to try putting D.Minion stories about his shoots over on his site too. Now we’ve always put them here if they inolved anyone we know and love, but a silly as it sounds Mr. Ninn sometimes does shoots that don’t include any Risqué women. I know. Crazy, huh? Anyway he loved the way it looked and the response it got, so now he wants us to do them for EVERY Ninn Worx shoot. Now it may not seem like it, but it’s a lot of work to post these stories the way we do, and since The Risqué Clan represents the major focus around here, we came up with a plan. We agreed to the task on the condition that y’all could see the “other” Ninn shoot stories too, and Michael agreed (happily, we might add). So today you get to see Porn Star which, although not technically starring anyone from our group, the movie does rather heavily relay on some personalities you may be very familiar with. That’s all we’ll say. We don’t mind helping Michael, but we’re still going to be nice about it. 7/25/05	One would think that working in the XXX Industry would be a fairly good job. Now we should probably dispell some myths here before we even get started, so “bare” [sic, we know] with us as we try not to ruin too many fantasies. … Hmm … This might be too large of a topic for a “New Stuff” lead-in, so let’s just go with the Bigee Myth: Women in the Porn Industry don’t actually have sex with anyone, anywhere, at the drop of a hat, or even trousers. OK. That’s over with. Actually this works exactly like most jobs. Everything gets old if you do it often enough. Honestly, the technical production of your favorite Adult Fare, probably wasn’t nearly as romantic as you might imagine. Put in more understandable terms, if you’re married it’s not that your spouse has “lost something” nearly so much as it is that you’re just really, really used to it. So don’t feel bad. (Do something about it, but don’t just sit around feeling bad.) More on point for the rest of us, as to today’s purposes we’ve called our wonderfully illustrated insights “Down in the Dolldrums” [still sic, we know]. 7/13/05	Well we assume that figuring out what went wrong should make us feel better, but basically it just means that we have a lot of “fixing” to do. Sigh. Still, the first lost story that surfaced from technical oblivion happened to be D.Minion’s account of the same Innocence shoot that Lon had an account of … sort of. There were a couple of shoots going on at the same time, and DM (this time around) only accounted for ONE of the two while still managing to get in 280 pictures and over 6,000 words. This is one of those many, many words posts, y’all, so prepare yourselves while we go look for some more of what we lost. Don’t worry too much though: We’re only looking for lost stories. We gave up looking for our minds some time ago. Call this D.Minion’s take on “Innocence and Slutty Innocence.” Oh, and there was a tie in the voting for the thumbnail to include here, so we just used them both. Now we’re really not certain about what exposure methods this particular camera utilized, but there are naked girls in the pictures, so we assume Lon had some plan in mind. 6/30/05	You know what? We haven’t been talking about Dee enough. For awhile we just thought these uncomfortable feelings were just from the long hours at Ninn Worx, or trying to get a deep understanding of really sexy subjects like “video compression techniques” or something. We even gave the “must have had some bad seafood” theory a brief visit, but then we realized that unless it comes wrapped in paper, we haven’t eaten it lately. Then we saw Dee at LA Erotica and we realized the obvious truth of the matter: We haven’t been talking about Dee enough. You know, you can spend time with your head buried in codec geekdom, on machines that cost many thousands of dollars, and you still miss the simple stuff. 6/27/05	Conventions and Events pretty much describe the modern working world in America. No matter what you do for a living, there’s almost certainly a convention somewhere (every year) that brings all of you like-minded people together … probably to talk amongst yourselves about how hideous it is to try to do what you do for a living. … well … We have those also. And we also have those Events that really, really want to be in this “essential” catagory, so that they might make a bunch of money off of all of us too. Consider LA Erotica. Now the people that attend this paticular convention are much more interesting than the folks that pay money to display their wares, as it were, but it’s still a rather fun place to hang out for a bit. This year it cost $30 per person, per day, and that probably makes some accountant happy somewhere. We just went for the pretty girls. Sometimes simple is best. 6/10/05	We’ve been thinking a lot about this “special week” coming up, so we decided to spend a little time with our friend. 4/30/05	We counted 17 separate references to old television theme songs in D.Minion’s story of Carol’s visit to Southern California. We’d actually worry about our sanity, but we’re much too crazy for this kind of deep introspection. Fortunately, the 125 photos from Michael Ninn (who didn’t even meet Carol, by the way) can make up for a lot of blatent silliness. 4/29/05	We get to visit with a bunch of old friends today, and D.Minion’s got 180 pictures and some 3,000-odd words to prove it. She was on the set of The Devinn Lane Show, Part 3: Attack of the Divas a couple of years back, and she got to spend some time with Julia Ann, Dee, Lola and Devinn. (D.Minion should pay us for this job.) By the way, we should state for the record here that, although we haven’t always agreed with her “career” decisions, Devinn Lane has always been beautiful, innovative, daring, and extremely motivated. In short, Devinn Lane is a very good director. She also happens to be wearing one of my favortie shirts during this shoot. “I can only be nice to one person a day. Today is not your day. 4/25/05	All of us at the office blame Carol for the lateness of the latest Ninn Worx Weekend. Michael didn’t get to meet Carol, since she “allegedly” spent her time in Southern California on the beach and eating home-cooked meals, and not on the Sybian. Both Carol and Michael are very polite people. … So we don’t have any pictures or either Carol or Michael on the Sybian, but we do have some really dandy images that will hopefully distract you from that point. 4/20/05	Pretty much every day, everyone pretty much has to do something. So today we pretty much figured we’d just spend some time looking at Wanda Curtis. All in all, in our experience, this turns out to be pretty much of a fun thing to do, and so we’re encouraging you to do it too. I don’t know if any of you ever had the opportunity to see Wanda in person, but she looks like a drawing or something. When artists draw their idealized visions of the perfect female form, they generally look like Wanda, actually. If Barbie Dolls had a human incarnation, they would look like Wanda too. 4/17/05	… [DMinion wrote this. It’s not my fault.] “From Nightingale poop to human foreskin.” According to a TV show I just watched, these are some of the things people put on their faces to keep them looking young and beautiful. Anais looks beautiful without any of these, uh, interesting concoctions. (I should know. I’ve seen her without makeup and she’s stunning. It just isn’t fair.) 4/15/05	In the movie business, a “side” is a small part of the script that the director intends to record on a particular day. Generally, when the “players” show up in their really groovy (or at least ego-gratifying) trailer room, some nameless person will have placed the sides in the room — most often directly upon the only horizontal seating area in said ego-gratifying room. The point, here, being that sometimes things don’t always turn out the way they “historically” should. In our ongoing efforts to convince Juli to release some of her “owned, albeit heretofore hidden,” footage of Essentially Inari, we’re providing a peek into the past lives of, not only Inari Vachs, but Dee, Kristal Summers, a very happily endowed man, a couple of genuinely nice women from Juli’s past, and even Juli herself. We call it “Old Irony-Sides” … but we’re like that. We would also like to point out that using words like “albeit” and “heretofore” should be at least a misdemeanor in any civilized country. 4/10/05	OK. Technically it may be a little late for a Ninn Worx Weekend, but, also technically, it’s still the weekend for three more minutes in LA as we’re posting this. Besides, some days “It’s all about the Porn Star, baby.” … and what’s a little tardiness when those are your options? 4/8/05	Well we’re still plowing through Tax Hell, which wouldn’t be as bad if you didn’t have to do it every year, we’re thinking. And as it turns out, although it really, really sucks to move with a broken leg right before Christmas, it’s even worse if you didn’t think about putting all of the various tax document areas from the office and warehouse in one box so you could find it easily when you needed it. (I don’t know why they were always in various places; that was not my job.) So we decided to make up for it with a Night Calls post from Juli and Tiffany’s February Show this year. This one turned out to be extra long, as it included the soon to be more famous Justine, along with a side trip to a Dee dance gig. We decided, “What the heck, let’s put a bunch of exclusive pictures of Anais up too. What, you want to spend more time on the Quicken Category and Transfer List?” Too many numbers in your life make you talk to yourself, you know. 4/2/05	For some reason we’re very concerned about The Learning Channel (and yesterday was April Fool’s Day). We don’t really know how to explain it better than that, other than point out that Bob Seger will be happy, and we do have the benefit of 80 (plus) pictures of Dee thinking of … probably anything but The Learning Channel. Sometimes it’s very strange in California … but it often involves beautiful naked women, and that makes up for a lot. Cheers, D.Minion.
