11/21/09	Cold weather brings thoughts of bitter cold, too many clothes, travel woes, and general mushiness in many aspects of life, right? Well, in Southern California we do what we can to empathize with the rest of the country, but we generally only get as far as Aurora Snow before we forget to be kind and start thinking how we really don’t miss this time of year back in our home towns. Unless you’ve spent some time here, you probably don’t know it, but despite the vast number of people in Los Angeles, no one really seems to be “from” here. A dandy collection has migrated in, however, so we’re all planning on getting together to feel bad for those of you whose “drift” still means a bunch of frozen water, and not a clever idea. 11/15/09	One of the basic tenets around here for the last ten years has been that we should always show the adult industry in its actual light, however dim that may be. After all, only network television routinely scripts “reality” shows, and having a bunch of isolated writers, some making tens of thousands of dollars per episode, set about determining how things “should” be to “look” real has always seemed, well, silly to us. (Yeah, yeah … So maybe TV in general elevated ludicrous to an art form, but that’s another discussion for a different day.) For now, we’re bringing in another of Maverick’s “Cam Shows” — which essentially involve simply putting a video camera on a tripod and pointing it at the beautiful women currently teasing Mav’s still camera. Even though it wouldn’t qualify as a dazzling new incarnation of applied technology, when Cate Harrington provides the talent pool, you don’t really need to over pay people completely inexperienced with the premise to tell us all how it should play out. 11/13/09	Friday the Thirteenth supposedly brings an ominous ambience. We fear. We fret. Or perhaps we happily embrace a “reason” to just stay home and look at porn — whatever works. In our case the day has for some reason always been a rather refreshing one, perhaps in part to the leader named “Lucky” we conjecture. On this particular day, however, we attribute our good feelings to a decision to once again let Kylie Ireland be in charge, and let D.Minion document the event. Much to Lon’s dismay, Steve happens to have been the very first member of the Risqué Commune Sites, before at some point we realized that we needed more help around here and enlisted his assistance. … More to point for today would be the conversation that began about Kristal Summers and her early days, and even more pertinent would be the actual visual evidence we have of that first memorable trip with the crew. Now Steve will eventually be heading back to work out of South Park, Colorado (Yes, there really is a place called that.), and all we’ve been able to advise him so far is to stay away from the little fat kid, because he’s always trouble, and never, ever stand too close to anyone named Kenny. … If you have any better advice, Steve would probably like to hear it. 11/6/09	Steve here (AKA SteveD, Just Steve, for today known as “Mav’s Not Here So Let’s Give That Guy All The Work” ), on location from Risqué central. While bemoaning the Broncos first loss of the season, the topic of Julia Ann came up. I don’t remember exactly how, but if you’ve spent any time with us, you know the topic can quickly shift from just about anything to a beautiful woman — and then to that same woman naked. At some point I asked if anyone knew how many tattoos Julia has, which was a trivia question at one of the member’s parties. I didn’t know the answer then, and I still don’t today, but if anyone has a guess, I’d be willing to personally check with Ms. Ann to see if you’re right. … We had to cut Just Steve off here, explaining how we really try diligently not to ramble, at least in the introductory section of a story. 7/27/09	Apparently over there in London an “ISP” doesn’t seem to involve anything that actually looks like “Service” – at least if Maverick’s experiences lately has been any indication. 7/20/09	Sometimes you simply need to do things for fun. Let’s face it: In 100 years, we’ll all be dead. Consequently, our leaders (more accurately: those that have been around here the longest) set out this past week to track down Tenaya. Hey, if you’re going to do fun things, they might as well involve a Penthouse Pet if you can work that into the equation. 7/9/09	Dear Maverick finishes up his Slanted by (Lexi) Love review of the big Los Angeles convention this year, which turned out to have the distinct advantage of taking place a couple of weeks before Michael Jackson decided to die. Otherwise, parking down at the convention center would have been a real pain, and we’d have ended up walking as much as if Lon would have been in charge. Still it is always sad when people leave this plain, and as great a talent as Michael Jackson undoubtedly was, we still mostly feel sorry for Farrah Fawcett. She spent the bulk of her career struggling to get top billing, and the poor thing didn’t even get it when she died. God has a wicked sense of humor sometimes. 6/30/09	Maverick has won the intra-office race to post the debut report on Erotica LA this year, or at least the opening volley. Our posting queue still seems to be surviving in a bit of a content food processor, though, so as a favor to some of the people working diligently on this side of “the pond” we have created a special page with a not-so-subtle hint as to what’s in store for mid-summer meditation around here. As for Mav, there seems to be a rather prominent theme surrounding British Baked Beans amidst the bevy of porn performers, probably proving once and for all that we’re potentially a bad influence. 6/27/09	Part of the interest in the adult entertainment world comes from the way that even though it can get a bit plodding, just like any job, every once in awhile things just come up in this world, and you have to make adjustments to your original plan. Even forgetting that whole “Man plans. God laughs.” philosophy for the moment, sometimes you really do get a chance to do something just a little different, and so you put whatever plan you used to have on hold for a minute. When such diversions involve Tori Welles, Ginger Lynn, and Christy Canyon, well, that brings up a whole other range of unique aspects to the XXX life. For centuries the prevailing intellectual theory seems to have been that history repeats itself, what with there being “no new things under the sun … yada, yada, yada” — although we will admit that intellectual theory sometimes resembles a lot more the latter than the former. 6/23/09	How long has it been since we’ve had a leader that seems to have some actual grasp of real world knowledge? Now we’d be among the (potentially few) that would say that any successful politician must possess a level of intelligence, but we feel obligated to point out that a substantial chasm separates “smart” from “quick” on the mental scale. 6/10/09	Before Maverick set out for his next bit of travel to sunny Southern California he felt it important to polish a bit of 247AdultStars so that it would gleam in his absence as well. He decided that adding a “Dirty Bedroom Solo” of Cate Harrington would be quite the appropriate way to decorate this time around, and having seen the video clips, we really would find it difficult to disagree. 3/27/09	Aren’t they peculiar, the turns life often makes? Somehow, and against odds no actually knowledgeable person could have taken, we have found ourselves once again mentoring an adult production company. This time, though, it happens to be a brand new one, which makes the challenge unique, and that’s always fun. If we do a reasonable job, you may well be hearing about Night Moods Productions — hopefully in a positive way, come to think of it. 3/14/09	So we had perfectly wonderful news yesterday, cleverly coinciding with a rare second Friday the 13th in consecutive months. You see, THE MESSAGE BOARD IS BACK! 3/11/09	Another Michael Ninn shoot is in the can, and at least one judge even says Michael has the right to use that name. A bit overcome with glee, though, we found ourselves in the midst of an unusually long movie trek over the last few days. On the upside that meant we had to spend an unusually long time on the set with Monique Alexander and Jenna Haze, though, so it was pretty hard to complain. Of course none of this has much to do with Uncle Gibby’s expose on Days Two and Three of the AEE, but it does give us more to look forward to, right? Oh, and because Dear Maverick decided that an autograph from Monique wasn’t worth waiting in line for, Tori Black has decided she’s going to “kick his butt” next year. 3/1/09	Back when he first started 247AdultStars.com Maverick began by working closely with an English performer named KazB. In fact, they worked so closely together that Mav even created an entire section in 247 called “Kaz Picks” where Kaz did exactly that. Now back in the early days of the site, Kaz always “picked” various sexy women to perform with her, but as you’ve probably seen in your own lives, women change as they get older.
