For this year’s Christmas UKAP party, the British weather had decided to bring in lows that made temperatures start to head into the minuses. [True to tradition, something British once again decided to make the same decision over and over again. Even the weather repeats itself. Of course some Spanish dude gave us, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” And Karl Marx elaborated with, “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.” … So maybe the Brits just don’t read a lot.] This of course wouldn’t stop female porn stars turning up in very small outfits and some even getting naked (but more of that later). [All in all that’s probably more interesting than discussing long dead philosophers anyway. Good choice.]

Since Lucky and the guys have been snowed in with code lately, he has put me in charge of the Risque Queue. That means I get to choose what to post next. Mwaaaahaahaha! Absolute power! (OK, I am scheduling much of it myself … with help from the boss.) [You have to be careful about putting DM in charge of the queue, actually. Before you know it, every post will be Olivia Del Rio, Dee, or anyone dressed up in a cheerleader outfit.]

It was time for another Shayla post! Yay! Shayla has given us discs and discs of wonderful photos, so I poured through them and found one with Shayla, her guy Anthony, and Olivia Del Rio! Whoo hoo! [Gee. Imagine that.] That was the one! I adore Olivia Del Rio! I could barely talk with her, and tended to run behind furniture and peek at her the few times we were on set together, but I sure do love her movies and photos! [To this day a particularly fetching photo of Olivia happens to be the only one we’ve ever had run through the office for which D.Minion requested a large format physical print that she could hang up at home. None of us has ever had the nerve to ask where she hung the picture, however.]

Unfortunately, I hadn’t been there when this scene was shot so Shayla filled me in. [Insert “filled in” joke here, and try to avoid D.Minion visuals. We do.]

Just the Vachs, Ma’am

Inari Vachs is one of the more unique individuals in the Adult Industry. [Wow. That’s a difficult sort of person to even imagine. We don’t know where all of you members work, but it seems safe to assume that your regular place of employment doesn’t have very many individuals that have much in common with any of the core industry folks. Around here, first you start with “I don’t care what other people in mainstream society think!” And then of course you watch them spend the next years of their lives caring a whole lot about what other industry people think. We all need acceptance from our peers, after all.] I first “met” her on the phone while (I believe) Lucky and she were talking about representation. I remember that she “sounded very nice” and when I met her in person, I found her to be as nice as she is beautiful! [Short Version of Life in D.Minion-Land: NICE = BEAUTIFUL. Although everyone around here fully supports DM’s assessment of Inari. So there’s that.]

A street kid from Detroit, Inari can easily fit into any social situation. I remember her arriving at AEE dressed like a rapper, and within half an hour she emerged from her room, looking like a glamorous movie star! [This doesn’t mean you should put her on your team to give a presentation intended to secure a massive Federal Grant, but why would you want one of those anyway?]

[Before the revelation today of yet another in the list of “HIV Scare” situations in the industry, this editorial had plans to be a somewhat happier sort of event. Still, we’re never too old to learn some things, and it seems we’re never too old to act in a spectacularly juvenile fashion either, sadly enough. But true to our core philosophy of Just Tell the Truth Because That’s Plenty Weird Enough, we decided to just slightly modify the already submitted article, basically with this little introduction. Knowing that the performers find themselves once again running around terrified, and will soon find themselves once again promising a “safe” approach to their chosen profession, does indeed add a little flavor to today’s topic. There is such a thing as too spicy, however – even for those of us that really enjoy the heat turned up.]

One would assume that a much more open “general public” acceptance of a foray into adult movie performing as a forgivable, if not precisely accepted bit of a resume would be a very good thing for the industry as a whole. In some respects, that would certainly be true. Let’s face it: You’ll often hear mentions of (or usually joking about) porn in regular prime time sitcoms these days. Once the bastion of daring late-night talk shows alone, the whole people having sex on camera thing has for the most part lost its shock value. Even “Celebrity Sex Tapes” (to use a rather old expression) just don’t mean that much to the general public – at least vis a vis the automatic media coverage that they used to garner. The Kim Kardashian frolic barely registered a blip in the radar before she and her family bopped off to a reality series on E! Apparently a rollicking good public boff no longer precludes a positive career bop. Well, that’s nice.
