Inari Vachs is one of the more unique individuals in the Adult Industry. [Wow. That’s a difficult sort of person to even imagine. We don’t know where all of you members work, but it seems safe to assume that your regular place of employment doesn’t have very many individuals that have much in common with any of the core industry folks. Around here, first you start with “I don’t care what other people in mainstream society think!” And then of course you watch them spend the next years of their lives caring a whole lot about what other industry people think. We all need acceptance from our peers, after all.] I first “met” her on the phone while (I believe) Lucky and she were talking about representation. I remember that she “sounded very nice” and when I met her in person, I found her to be as nice as she is beautiful! [Short Version of Life in D.Minion-Land: NICE = BEAUTIFUL. Although everyone around here fully supports DM’s assessment of Inari. So there’s that.]

A street kid from Detroit, Inari can easily fit into any social situation. I remember her arriving at AEE dressed like a rapper, and within half an hour she emerged from her room, looking like a glamorous movie star! [This doesn’t mean you should put her on your team to give a presentation intended to secure a massive Federal Grant, but why would you want one of those anyway?]

[Before the revelation today of yet another in the list of “HIV Scare” situations in the industry, this editorial had plans to be a somewhat happier sort of event. Still, we’re never too old to learn some things, and it seems we’re never too old to act in a spectacularly juvenile fashion either, sadly enough. But true to our core philosophy of Just Tell the Truth Because That’s Plenty Weird Enough, we decided to just slightly modify the already submitted article, basically with this little introduction. Knowing that the performers find themselves once again running around terrified, and will soon find themselves once again promising a “safe” approach to their chosen profession, does indeed add a little flavor to today’s topic. There is such a thing as too spicy, however – even for those of us that really enjoy the heat turned up.]

One would assume that a much more open “general public” acceptance of a foray into adult movie performing as a forgivable, if not precisely accepted bit of a resume would be a very good thing for the industry as a whole. In some respects, that would certainly be true. Let’s face it: You’ll often hear mentions of (or usually joking about) porn in regular prime time sitcoms these days. Once the bastion of daring late-night talk shows alone, the whole people having sex on camera thing has for the most part lost its shock value. Even “Celebrity Sex Tapes” (to use a rather old expression) just don’t mean that much to the general public – at least vis a vis the automatic media coverage that they used to garner. The Kim Kardashian frolic barely registered a blip in the radar before she and her family bopped off to a reality series on E! Apparently a rollicking good public boff no longer precludes a positive career bop. Well, that’s nice.

The Taylor Hayes Haze

Just so we’re clear at the outset, we happen to mean the Taylor Hayes Haze in a very positive way, in case the title confused anyone. As you would likely expect, the porn business brings out some rather interesting personality quirks – particularly for those actually in front of the camera. According to our database, we haven’t done a great deal of talking about Taylor Hayes, so we’ll add that to the list, because Taylor happens to be quite interesting, as a matter of fact. For example, when she first came to Los Angeles she called the house from a gas station a few blocks away. She’d decided to get into the business, so she put all her worldly belongings into the back of her car and driven across a couple of states to the address on our business card. Back then the address was a mailbox place, and apparently the gas station next door didn’t seem like where she wanted to spend the next few weeks as she got settled in.

Go figure. … Some people. …

For the purposes of today’s quick “Toss to Tenaya”, however, we’ll just settle for a quick account of her decision to dash away from VCA and take up task with Seymore Butts. Consistent with what you may have learned on his Showtime series, Family Business, Seymore does in fact happen to be a really nice guy. When he expressed an interest in dating Taylor, I can’t say anyone at the house was very surprised. It’s a small business in many respects, and both of them spent so much time making goo-goo eyes at each other at dinner parties and such that most of us found ourselves simply glad they finally got it over with and decided to move in together. By the time this happened, though, Taylor had signed her contract with VCA and plans were well underway for her to star in her first big movie for the company. This one took a great deal of pre-planning, and it had all the earmarks of being something groundbreaking, in a world where “special” remains rare – no matter what a director may tell you about their latest venture.
